I have the money and i wanna start buying all the parts, i was looking on suicide doors and saw this kit http://www.suicidedoors.com/StarterKit38.php

I have some bags, i just need to work out the trailing arms, panhard etc.

I have decided to mount the trailing arms in the original leaf spring pocket and im thinking of mounting the bags behind the rear end, i know this wont give me much lift - but i dont need alot. im gonna run a panhard and depending on room I may add a 3rd or 4th link. but I will start off with a 2 link and see how it runs.

Does anyone have any pics of early 60's bagged fords ? i have seen alot with leaf springs, mono etc but i dont really wanna go that route.

What do you all think of this set up ?

I really wanna see what other people have done, i know im not the only guy who wants to or has bagged a early 60's ford

    thanks, any info is appreciated

    I agree.....remove the parallel leafs.....

You could make trailing arms from the front eyes of the leaf springs....go to IF Customs web page

    IFcustoms.com

They cover how they use that set up on full size and mini truck bag installations.....

A panhard bar is all you need ...dont forget to angle the trailing arms for proper pinion angle and alignment

On my 63 Galaxie I found room underneath for mid-late 60's Chevy truck trailing arms....or NASCAR style if you will....traing arms...I run them on my 49 F-1 pick-up ...that with airbags and I enjoy a smooth riding sled...

in the picture below ...your bag would go where the spring is located

No I haven't bagged it yet...I did some measuring using the arms I have on my F-1 as a reference........but if you use the leaf spring perch as a trailing arm mounting point....you should be fine.

You just don't get as much flex as you would with a longer Chevy arm.....damn......Now I'm going to have to go back underneath there tomorrow and make sure my measurements are correct....

I originally wanted to use hydraulics and decided against parallel leafs and go with a longer trailing arm for a better ride. Probably a lot of fabrication involved...but I'm up for it......I think.....

i just gotta say dont put the bag behind the axle. put the bags in front of the axle...preferably on the lower trailing arms. it will ride nicer.

also dont bother with a panhard bar...just do a triangulated 4 link.

the only Galaxies i have seen that are bagged have had the bags in the rear.

Why do you say 4 link ? have you done it or seen anyone that has ?

not a normal 4 link....you still need a pan hard or watts link with a normal 4 link....you do not with a triangulated 4 link....normally I am a strong proponent of triangulation....BUT in this particular case I would go the route your going with the trailing arms....oh and put your bags in front of the axel...just because thats the only way you've seen it done doesnt mean thats the best and only way to do it, it will have a better ride and more travel if your in front (depending on set up of course) of the axel....

So you are saying just use the 2 link with the panhard ?

Or are you saying - use a parallel 4 link ?

there is not alot of room in front of the axle and thats the reason the bags i've seen are mounted behind.

there is plenty of room, just get some www.slamspecialties.com bags that dont balloon out with pressure and youll be fine.

2 link is rubbish, but thats just my .02 its really hard on the suspension components unless you run heim joints. do you plan to ever hit side to side switches (i bet you will in the future even if you dont now) and a 2 link wont work for this at all.

triangulated 4 link is my favorite because there is no side to side axle movement throughout the suspensions travel. with panhard bar there is...and if i can avoid it i just dont like panhards.

also with a two link, the pinion angle changes throughout the travel as well, where as with a proper 4 link this is greatly minimized.

4 links are just better, although take more time and money...it will pay off.

I know all the good things about the 4 link, but the problem is - i have never seen or talked to anyone that has a triangulated 4 link on a 60's Galaxie.

    Have you done it ?

Or have you seen it done on a Galaxie ? - except for the air ride $2K bolt on kit

notch the *** end and run the bags on top of the rear end. We did my plymouth that way (not finished and hasn't been driven) and my buddy kelley's shoebox along with his 52 buick. Both of his cars ride sweet. I have a latter bar set up with a pan hard bar, and it sets on the ground. Also by running the bags on the axle I saved some floor, with the bags all the way down I only had to cut alittle into the floor pan and tunnel for clearance.
