I recall the build called the warbaby sport coupe. Attention to detail and simplicity works
    throughout the vehicle.

Nothing special, but when I built hotrodA back in the early 80’s I fabbed all the brackets and motor mount with these milled look recesses by overlaying a cut and filed piece of 1/8” on each one.
Also ground EVERYTHING that was rough, including the engine, to a slick, gloss Imron finish.

    Hello,

Having driven the black 58 Impala since 1957, prior to getting my license several years later, I scrutinized plenty of things on the fast sedan. The main thing was the cool looking rear roof vent scoop/exit. In the open window version of all windows down during hot days or going to the beach, the flow gets stuck in the rear window and tries its best to leave the rear seating without further swirling.

As the air gets ****ed into the all windows down opening, it needed a direct flow out of the back. The raised roof vent accessory was there and an interior curved roof line was also under the headliner area. So, why wasn’t it an option to make that rear vent functional? Then, the air flow would come inside and have a direct flow up out after being funneled into the sloping, rear window area.

On rainy days, a lever would close the opening/closing vent flap for secure waterproofing. But, on hot days, the flow of air from the front compartment lower foot area would also be in the mix and make a smooth flow of air shooting directly back over the seats to head for the roof top opening. Even when the windows are in an up position, the release of stuffy air inside of the cab could have an easy exit location. So, as the windows are up, the inside air does not become stale as the flow goes to the rear opening/exit.

That was always a question or thought that ran through those nights and lay around days of teenage conversation to make our cars better. No need for A/C to rob horsepower from the motor, but a functional roof air vent/release mechanism.

    Note:

Someone always asked as if they could not see the side swoop not being open, but, yes, could it have been another opening vent? Probably not, due to being right next to the rear p***enger seat wall. Although behind the tri color upholstery, I suppose a workable opening vent could be placed like the ones below the front foot well areas. Everyone would just have to remember to close all vents when the car is left outside to the weather.

    Note 2:

In our teenage high school group, the Chevy sedans were popular from a 53,55,56,57 and yes, I drove the 58 Impala when a big event was coming up on Cherry Avenue and/or, we were traveling to various So Cal drive-in restaurant hang outs. Add in a couple of Pontiacs a 52 and 61. Plus in our senior year, a powerful 409 Biscayne two door sedan that was strictly street and did not see compe***ion at Lion’s Dragstrip. All were part of the hard earned teenage adventure hot rods.

When we all graduated, everyone moved on in life, military, college, work force and a new crop of cool hot rods were evident. My 58 Impala was still around for a couple more years as I had sold it to a younger teen that we knew and he was a sophomore at the time...YRMV

I can’t build anything unless it has some sort of look to it. Simple stuff like a motor mount. 31FB8F84-7F7C-444F-9F90-47AA0FFF18FC.jpeg 36A82DCC-945A-4836-BA28-9A5FFD5CD3C3.jpeg
