I have the first that Ryan had printed it's a little ragged around the neck. I have friend that has two that have never been worn. I tried to buy them, but he won't sell. Pic s later.
I seems to get 1 of them every time they come out. ^^^^ that one is one of my favorites and has holes in it (mine is brown). This is the only one I haven't worn (because it's white).
Hello, When we were in Joplin, Missouri on our way to St. Louis from OKC, we were about 17 miles away from Mo-Kan Dragway. But, at the time, St. Louis and an Eastward direction was our goal. Since we got stuck in construction traffic for a couple of hours, we decided to go back to Kansas City, change all of the weeks-worth of planning and head West to the national parks. The East Coast will still be there in the future road trips and our sailing adventures in the Chesapeake Bay and the Maine coastline will have to wait a little longer. So, now we will have to say the Missouri/Kansas part (Mo-Kan) of the road trip was close, but “close counts only in horseshoes and hand grenades.” I have not been on the HAMB as long as some of the “older/other” guys. But old memories and incidents that can be noted is something for the times. Plus, a good looking T-Shirt is always comfortable and cl***y. It was the close connection and the presentation of the cool grey T-Shirt that got me moving for a purchase. We could not go shopping as normal, since the lockdown. So the search for new attire found the “HAMB DRAG NATIONALS” MO KANdemic QUARANTINE T-Shirt the perfect purchase. The need for a new T-Shirt went along with our bevy (of So Cal attire) of T-shirts and shorts. Jnaki NOTE: From the early pandemic times of "locked in place..." this just in... “Thanks for the nice T-shirt. It goes with all of my So Cal dress up attire, very nicely. My wife thought it was appropriate for the times as almost everything is being cancelled. This T-shirt shows that it is a happening thing during these very troubling times and illnesses. It is a nice color and the printing is outstanding. The new greyish/faded black color fits right in with the other dress up black T-shirts that now look vintage grey, compared to this new HAMB T-shirt.” “Here is a photo of me wearing the week’s favorite, dress up T-shirt around…where? We can’t go anywhere, being locked in place, so my wife and dog like it. I did wear it on a recent Facetime connection with our granddaughter. I could not even give it to her for school due to the fact that she is now in 6+ hours of online high school and as we all know, they wear anything on the screen.” “Maybe, I will order another one, just for her change up in a style of a different look wardrobe. Who in So Cal has a Mo-Kandemic Quarantine shirt? Ha! They do fit well and have a great neck, not stretched like a lot of T-shirts.” We wash it inside out to preserve the larger color areas from cracking… a great conversation starter. “Are there any left? In XL? It was one of the only t-shirts to identify the world wide pandemic quarantine.” “My T-shirts last a long time, despite the fact that a T-shirt is worn every day. It is just the way you take care of a T-shirt in the wash and wear department. Just yesterday, I told my wife that a shirt that is now in her rag bag for stainless cleaning has the name of an old eyegl***/eye wear company started in 1992 in the OC. The company is still going strong, today. That T-shirt was given to me and I wore it in a rotation of many T-shirts daily/weekly.” “It bit the dust in 2018 because I accidentally spilled some bleach on a counter top and it got on the shirt. Well, now, that shirt is doing its rotation in our rag bag for stainless steel cleaning. It is 26 years old when taken out of duty and now 28 years old doing a great job of cleaning what needs to be cleaned.” “Online high school does not have quite the effect as being in person. But, at least our granddaughter is safe, staying away from all of the crowded hallways and stairs with her mask. Her high school days will certainly be different from our 1959-62 high school years. Hot rods/drag racing or not…” “At least she is practicing for her driver’s license when she can get away from the online cl***es. The vintage T-shirt look is in, according to my granddaughter, so the faded black t-shirts and this new grey/black combo is in, according to the newly, minted teenagers.” “Now, I will have to explain to people what HAMB Drag Nationals and the Mo-Kandemic is to 95% of the population here in South Orange County. (if… we decide to venture out for a bank run or gas tank fill up.) Or, maybe I will give it to our granddaughter to let all other So Cal teenagers wonder what the he#$% it means.” Nice shirt for the times… NOTE 2: Another favorite T-shirt from the HAMB archives is the 4 custom Strombergs on a black “pocket” style shirt. My wife likes black shirts. The color goes with everything in our wardrobes. It was going to be a Christmas present but they were sold out. So, still waiting for the next round of silk screen printing… If the design is the attraction, then the pocket version is just a place for the cool logo. Nothing is going to keep the T-shirt from being smooth fitting and plus, it looks nice in black with a contrasting color design print. The styling used to be white shirts in the summer and black ones in the winter, with the grey shirts thrown in either season for a change of scenery. Now, any color and any style is accepted as long as it is of quality and not just a thrown on rag. Whatever t-shirt anyone chooses, it has to be made of quality material and build. Nothing is worse than a skimpy, thin, saggy neck t-shirt that looks like someone just woke up and had nothing else to wear. T-shirts are accepted as quality street wear anytime of the year. As long as it does not look like a junkyard worker’s shirt. YRMV
@Ryan Hey Ryan, The search for new attire found the “HAMB DRAG NATIONALS” MO KANdemic QUARANTINE T-Shirt is/was the perfect purchase. The need for a new T-Shirt went along with our bevy (of So Cal attire) of T-shirts and shorts. It is the only shirt to showcase something going on with the pandemic. Plus, it is one of the best made shirts and color design. I get comments all of the time when I wear it when we go to the beach/harbor for a short visit or two. Who in So Cal has a Mo-Kandemic Quarantine shirt? Ha! They do fit well and have a great neck, not stretched like a lot of T-shirts.” We wash it inside out to preserve the larger color areas from cracking… a great conversation starter. But, my efforts to get another one is stymied due to XL being sold out. Our granddaughter went through high school as the cl*** to go all three years during the pandemic. We wanted to get one for her and one more XL for me. When my wife says, "that t-shirt looks great and is one of your best." Then I would like to get a couple of more of the same shirt. So, is there a future reprint run of these pandemic shirts? Jnaki Also, I purchased the XL Cutaway Shirt and have worn it almost weekly. But, just the other day, my wife, who is a specific critic of clothes we both wear these days, mentioned with a smile... "That Jalopy T-shirt is a great looking shirt. It is one of my favorite ones. " So, with a comment like that one, I wanted to purchase a couple more of the XL size ones. But, they, too are sold out. So, are there plans to make a reprint run of a couple batches of those two shirts? I know those are sold out and if the popularity of the shirts is in the top ones, shouldn't a new batch get its chance to perform again? I am sure that I am not the only one to want a couple of more of the same shirts. Thanks...
I have some of the ones already posted. My daughter stole a couple of mine a few years ago and brought back this pillow:
I don't have any from the HAMB, but have a few I've bought off the HAMB. Barnett's "Ain't No Crime Runnin' Inline", The Gosson Bros "Son of Godzilla", and my favorite from deadendcruisers.com "Jimmy White's HEMI Coupe is my favorite Band". Man, that was a long time ago.
