Anyone know some history on this Dodge 2x2bbl intake??? The top has a number cast on it rather crudely, 1554550, and it doesn't correspond to any old dodge info I have at my fingertips. The bottom is marked DODGE. Does that casting mark all over the bottom signify anything? Manufacturer? It appears to have been polished at some time in its past. What it is??
I have seen one of those before. I believe Dodge gave it a number and had Edmonds make it for some racing cl*** where the parts must be stock. NASCAR? I think the number would fall in 55 year production. Dodge had 4bbl set up for 55 so I don't know why they did this. I have an Edmunds 4BBl intake for the Dodge and it is dated 55.
By casting marks, do you mean those rusting steel things? I've had a few of each of the 2 styles of Edmunds intakes for Olds and they all had steel things showing. I had ***umed something to do with holding the inner cores when cast? Edmunds always polished their parts.
not in the mopar part # or casting book covering 1951 up...the 155 - is around the 1955 era but not even on the trucks - marine or industrial motors as factory equipment....unlike the six packs from years later....
I called them casting marks. I am referring to the rectangle mark, maybe trademark, that looks like a box with 4 boxes inside of it. It looks like a window from an old house. Man that sounds like a lame description!
Interesting! I spent some time surfing 1955 NASCAR but did not fine any engine details. Lee Petty ran a Dodge back then and was pretty successful. In '53 I think I read Dodge broke a bunch of records out on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Is there a Salt Flats Cl*** that requires STOCK modifications only?
I'm no expert on all different brands of aftermarket intakes, but those odd pieces of steel/iron make me ***ume it has to be Edmunds.. It was something needed for his type of casting process. ,
