Nice purchase, Groucho! Ahhh, Coral Pink- Dad and I had a '55 Handyman just like that... except that the Coral Pink had been sun-bleached to the point that it looked more like puce than pink
Chromies and wide whites, and lower the car a bit all round Reasons: 1)You love that look 2) We love that look 3) Moriarty loves that look (and he knows stuff)
Paint the current wheels a darker brown than the body, chrome spiders or centres and nuts and narrow whites or keep the tyres you’ve got if they’re ok.
It would be perfect with 3/4" WW on those wheels, spider caps and beauty rings, also a hell of alot cheaper. If you put cragars on there Ill puke! haha.
@Groucho Nice Chevy wagon... Hello, You have a nice 2 door station wagon. Any car or station wagon has always looked the best when the original American Racing Equipment Company came out with the 5 spoke wheels. At first it was for drag racing only, then they did their magic and made them for street usage. There have been many modifications to those wheels, but it all comes back to the look of the original 5 spoke wheels on blackwalls. Thin white walls or wider whitewalls have been tried and used, but they just don’t look as good as a good contrast original 5 spoke wheels with blackwalls. So, go look at a pair of original style American Racing Equipment 5 spoke wheels, not chrome, not buffed or polished, but original contrasting wheels. Sorry for the Nomad photo with the funky sun visor. It is the best look with the 5 spokes and blackwalls in the group. Jnaki Our old friend, @jeff Thisted and his 1955 Chevrolet 210 Handyman is a great example of a good looking station wagon that he drives all over to document his hot rod travels. All with great photos and storylines including photos of his Chevy station wagon in the scenic backgrounds. But, alas, his 5 spokes are two sizes over the HAMB rules, even though they still look like 15 inch original ones from any angle. So, photos are not posted.
Looks good with the stock poverty caps and steelies. Maybe a darker brown on the wheels to offset the body color…..just my two cents worth.
A friend's 56, although the radius and lack of front bumper sets it apart from yours but it is gold lol
I'd put something like this on it....... give it some "attitude" to go along with the airplanes "altitude".
Leave it the way it is or play with the color of the wheels. My next choice would be chrome reverse. I love s\s a lot more on muscle cars than tri fives.
If it were mine I would run pinners on the front and big black walls on the rear. But that kind of goes back to my beginnings. Almost any old heap you bought had pinners on it and I usually could only swing two big tires.
I LIKE THE IDEA OF CHROME WHEELS, EITHER REVERSE OR CRAGARS, WITH SKINNY WHITES. LIKE YOUR OLD EL CAMINO.
With all these folks recommending Cragars, I had to look to see if I was still on the HAMB... Chrome reverse and skinny whites.
