Technical WORST MECHANIC EVER............

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ekimneirbo, Sep 29, 2021.

  1. I pulled the pan from a running '59 283 in '03. Found rings in the pan. Decided to tear down for inspection. #6 piston had broken ring lands, and was installed on the crank backward. The block drains were both missing and the only reason it was not loosing water was that the holes were plugged with corrosion. The engine was supposedly overhauled. It gets better, someone had been really aggressive with the ridge reamer. It was a stick bore block and I had to hog it out .060 to overcome the problem. The bores were straight enough that it would have cleaned up @ .030.

That said, today I would have to say that I am the worse. I have a later model Ford truck in my driveway that has been there altogether too long getting a clutch. I have not screwed it up but I am taking way too long to get the job done.
