I have the 1.3" whitewall look stuck in my head but I am trying to stick with a mid 60's vibe. So what I'm wondering is... what was available "back in the day"?
Through the late 50.s, wide white whites were available. Through mid year 62 the 2 5/8 wide white was available and mid year 62 the narow(about 1 inch) white became available. I am speaking in the general, since this varied somewhat by manufacturer. Tire stores reflected what was standard offerings by manufacturer. Some areas later than others. You will be in vogue with your 1.3 white wall.
more important than that.. it is 2006, can you get 1.3" whitewalls? I know I had a hard time finding them for my 62 Caddy several years back...
You Can get a 1.3 WW in a 205 & 215/75/15 inch radial and also a 1.6 WW 235/75/15 From coker tire they call it "that 70s tire"... .. xtra
I googled 1.3" Whitewall First listing: https://www.tiresavings.com/tireSho...a&tirename=CL***IC+CAR+WIDE+WHITEWALL&season=
My memory had the skinney white walls earlier than 62. I still remember seeing the first narrow WW on a 57 Chevy. Probably not standard factory hides but they were on the street before the auto makers made them the standard issue making WWW p***e. The ads in the year 1960 Hot rods showed the stockers still sporting the WWWs but several of the cutting edge show cars featured through out the year had the narrow WW. March 1960 issue means they were available in late 59 at least.
