  2. I know Summit has a large selection of fittings. They are not going to have one like that but they do have 3an to 1/8 npt or inverted flare.

Is that a bubble flare on the left end? And what thread is the flare nut?

It's not an both ends. One end is standard brake.

Yeah, that's a bubble flare, not the good old inverted flare that I'm used to.

Is it SAE or metric thread?

I believe these might work if the bubble flare isn’t mandatory, there’s a generous face, would that seal?

Ebay 233881178201. Stainless and a bit pricey but looks to be what's required. Not sure why they have metric in the title as its not in the technical details!

It's a brake line with a bubble flare.
    Thank you for the reply

  15. Speedway has fittings that go from 3an to standard line, I just used them on my Henry J

Your right, I missed that! My bad. I've not seen one like that having searched my usual sources, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're not available. Closest is the metric version as indicated by Hoptup32, but being metric that's not going to work, the thread isn't remotely close. It may prove you'll be needing something made or modified. The seat in the cylinder seems logical, or perhaps the easiest might be to take an aluminium 3an /3an adapter (the thread should be ok) and turn down, or even sand on a drill, to make the bubble end. Any mismatch should be capable of being overcome with gentle force forming the aluminium.

Since we don't know what component the bubble flare goes into, would it be easier to replace said component with one that has a more common connection, to be able to use the more common fitting's?

  19. Our local auto parts store sells different lengths of brake line that is flared on both ends and comes with fittings installed. ALL of the lines that come with a bubble flare have metric fittings, ALL of the lines with the regular inverted flare/double flare have standard fittings. You have a bubble flare, suggesting to me that you probably have a metric fitting.

If you can figure out what your thread is and what the fitting is going into, it might be easier to answer your question.

  21. This makes sense, technically speaking double flares are a SAE or imperial flare and bubble flares are an ISO or metric flare. Now that doesn’t mean there aren’t some being put together with imperial threads…

It seems you are just asking about the size 3 AN fitting. You can buy JIC fittings which are essentially the same as AN fittings but made from steel for use in industrial equipment. If you look on the Discount Hydraulics website you will find the JIC fittings.

You should also get the Nut and collar to hold the tubing in the fitting. Probably gonna need a 37 degree flaring tool as well, and they are more expensive than your typical 45 degree flaring tool.

We could probably offer you some better alternatives if we could see the two things you are trying to couple together. I have "made my own" fittings before by adapting things together with solder, and if done properly they can work well.

Take you parts to your local hydraulics hose shop They can advise and come up with the PROPER fitting. It helps if you bring doughnuts
