OK, I am looking at the front floor brace on my 57 Ford wagon here. I am going to try and blast and then chem alter and seal the rust. BUT, there is cancer forming I know but am I good to forward with my plan? Or do I need to replace the brace?

    Thanks,

    Mike

It really depends on your build
    but
to me it doesn’t look too bad and should be ok
    for pits
rule of thumb is 10% or less of total thickness of depth is acceptable

I see some deep pits and looks like it's all covered by that factory undercoat garbage. What's the other side of that brace look like? Also, how bad is the end that tacks to the inner rocker? Mine was pretty messed up....

The attachment is solid and bottom of the brace is covered in desert concrete. That is what is saving the body I think.

IMG_2302.jpeg seem’s to be the concern.

    Personally I’d use it.

Blast it then epoxy it, I think the pitting is from being full dirt and holding moisture. Shouldn’t be a problem on a car that sees limited use in mostly dry weather.

Thank you all for your opinions. I will get some new media and blast away. Then use a converter and epoxy paint it.

Well……..the HF blast was ****-I was hoping it might work but it just peed material out. I might have done something wrong so I will try again one more time before I s**** it. So I ended up using Ch***is Saver rust converter and sealer. I will add a few more coats and then start cutting down the floor pans this weekend.

Have you tried Citric Acid? There are several threads on here suggesting its use. I've used it and it works well.
