  4. " The Blown Hearse " from Bristol, Connecticut. IIRC, the hearse is currently being restored to it's glory days configuration.

Agreed Doug. Those are some of the best examples along with the early tandem and side-by-side engine cars and those with V-12 aircraft engines. This is the stuff that always had me greatly admiring Mickey Thompson (amongst others) but of course he always took things to a much higher level than most anyone else whether at the dragstrip or on the salt.

Yeh, from what I've read about M/T and his huge portfolio of work you have to wonder when he had time to sleep.

That's just it, he didn't! Danny said he was always good to go on 4 hours sleep. Early on in his empire building he ran a printing press at the LA times on graves while building race cars and parts all day. The guy was incredible.

Didn’t work very well but Howard Johanson always thought out of the box.

  24. I questioned it because of the oil cap in the middle of the valve cover.

Fella on the left might be the talented Wayne "Fat Boy" Ewing and AJ Watson employee that built the injector scoop on the car.

Pontiac used their FI in ‘57 and ‘58, and in concept it was the same as the Chevrolet version but different in appearance. Compare the Pontiac to the Chevy air inlets that Rochester designed, the roadster is Pontiac powered.
