Hello Hambers, My good friend and I are working on a 1933 Buick Series 57 and are having a tough time understanding how to remove the Opera Vent Window Regulator Handle. I have attached a picture of the Handle in hopes that the Buick spe******ts can help with this. We need to remove this handle for upholstery, but it is on the shaft solid and won't budge. We don't want to apply any more force as it may break and these are pot metal to begin with. Any help and guidance is always appreciated. It seems like there may be some type of spring behind it or something that is holding it in place but this is a guess..
I would think this design carry’s over. Go down to the 8th reply to see what I’m referring to. https://forums.aaca.org/topic/184070-32-buick-57s-inside-door-handle-removal/
Just fitted one to the wind up rear window on a 34 chev coupe. There is a "C" spring clip that you can only see if you push the escutcheon back for clearance. Its just behind the head of the handle. If you cant push it back to see behind it you are screwed. The clip can be installed blind as its a spring clip but to get off you need a gap.
As bad as that pot metal looks even if you get the pin or clip out I will bet that it is going to be stuck to the shaft big time. There is either a clip as said or a small pin holding it on but you have to pull back the escutcheon to see it. That old pot metal swells with age, even NOS parts still in the box go bad. That's why they call it pot metal, they threw anything that could find in the pot to make it.
