Times are tough, so I wanted to reach out here on the HAMB. If its not for you, maybe someone you know. I work for POWERTRAIN PERFORMANCE at Nissan in AZ. I'm an engineer and I really like it. We need technicians in a bad way. Here's your job: Take time data: 0-60 WOT, 50-70 and many more tests. Take acceleration data: part throttle to WOT. Be a mechanic about 20% of the time. (changing parts or something like that.) Go on cool road trips, all expense paid. (including off-road at Moab) Use the computer to make a report of the data you took.(requires some computer skills, especially Excel) Also, some vehicle prep that's not so glamorous (like cleaning windows and changing oil.) Sound ok? You don't have to bust your hump all day on dirty cars either! They're all new or prototype vehicles in an air conditioned. well equipped garage. We usually get UTI or some other mechanic school people. You guys are hard workers, don't get me wrong, but what we really need is enthusiasm, a desire to work with cars, and some basic mechanic skills. Anyone know anyone like that? Well Im sure the pay is not what I'm used to working for NASA. But I bet there are no politics to deal with...Damn if I could afford it I would go work for home depot or something!
Too bad you're not in Tucson; or me in Phoenix. With all the problem's my mom's Nissan has had I have gotten pretty familiar with the rice.
Hey, and also if anyone wants to move to Alabamy and work on foreign POS's... the Mercedes plant is expanding and adding something like 1000 new jobs, starting at $18 per hour... which can buy you a quite a lot of rust preventative in Alabamy.
The proving grounds are in Stanfield, AZ. Never heard of it? I'm not surprised! Its about 10 miles from Maricopa (city) on the way to Casa Grande. Not exactly in the heart of the city, but that's what you get with proving grounds generally. They supply tools. (if that wasn't a poke at foreign cars!) Please keep this job in mind for yourself and friends/family. I don't think they would pay for any relocation, but it sure is easier to move when you have a job waiting. Everyone, please keep your jobs at NASA the DOD. Our country needs you!
