I am starting to repair the damage the p/o did to the inner structures of both doors. Looks like they took a plasma cutter to it? I need to make a patch panel for the big rectangular section near the top of the door panel area. My question is, does the rectangular recessed area (circled in blue on the red door) serve a purpose? Does something mount on the inside of it? Lastly, if someone could give me dimensions for that recess (or supply me with the patch from an original door that would be greatly appreciated!
I believe that might be a late 46'-47' door. And I think that area in question was for a arm rest. If you look at the cab corner you can see a gas filler hole. 41' and older had the gas tank at the rear of the frame. Later cabs had the tank under the seat. The doors on my pickup are solid except for a removable panel to access the window regulator and window.
Great memory! Thanks for the flash back in time, that was a project I should have kept but at the time I needed to pay bills. It was a '39 cab off a farm flatbed with the gas tank under the seat. Merry Christmas! Bob
thanks for checking. If possible could u measure the length, width and depth of the recesses? I would greatly appreciate it.
My doors are in the far end of the storage trailer. If the weather is good this weekend I will pull out the fenders and hood etc. and get a door out and measure it. here is the pictures. Top section is around 1/4” deep and bottom section is around 7/16 “ deep
