Technical Weiand WC4D Experiences

    Just wanted to bump this and see if there was anyone with actual first hand experience, especially with the progressive linkage.

    not interested in theory, more so experience.

  3. Im finish off a nice 283 build for my coupe as we speak. Car runs a manual trans.

    I used the Stromberg shaft extensions/supports and fabbed the rest of the straight linkage using rod ends. As soon as the engine is broken in the Weiand 4 carb will go on, will be dialled in.

    My understanding is that while it will run with a progressive linkage, it is designed to run with a straight linkage. In either case I went with the straight linkage.

    Gues we'll find out soon enough ! ;)

    I was thinking Man-a-fre keeps each carburetor pretty independent from the others.

    The Weiand looks to maybe have all 4 carbs connected a bit?

    My WC4D. I bought it back in the early 80's, ran it on a 283 in a Vega, then on a 327 in a 79 Starfire GT, sold the Starfire in early 90's but kept the intake/carbs in storage. It has 4 Holley 2110 carbs and homemade progressive linkage. Currently in process of rebuilding the Starfire GT after buying it back last year in pieces. I even found the same 327 in another vehicle and bought it back too. upload_2023-12-7_18-43-1.png

    I have this intake on my 55 chevy. Running straight linkage with Stromberg 97 knock offs 42 jets on a 327 4sp with 3:55 gears. Still working out the kinds but runs nice now. Learned a lot from tuning it. I even have another complete set up.

  8. I have been running a set on my 32 5w coupe for many years now with no problems. I am using 1955 ford 3 bolt carbs. All are running together. It
    cranks with no choke (hot or cold) with no problem. They are on a built 283
    (292) COMP cam, Low pressure electric fuel pump only. I turn off pump
    before I turn off the switch. This cut down on the chance of flooding. That
    has worked for me. I don't FIDDLE with the carbs because they run very good.
    ( If it ant Broke you can't fix it) I think it looks like a HOT ROD....Sounds like
    a HOT ROD....runs like a HOT ROD...
