    cheers all,

my personal name is Peter Gregor Kafka and I created SICK AL and SICK AL SPEEDSHOP in 2010 in my hometown in germany where I grew up. So ya can call me Pete, Greg or just Sick Al or however ya like. I moved to another place for 4 1/2 years near Netherlands and near a place called Hamb (look it up on google maps haha, not kidding) and a year ago I moved to Berlin after some weird circumstances. I've chosen SICK AL as my artist name coz it stands for circle, sickle, cycle, everything that is kinda round and I love ol' skool rides on two, three, four or more wheels. SICK stands for something like krazy and AL is leaned to my grandfather Alfred so the name is a combination with some different meanings. Here I want to post and share some of my art on four wheels as two wheel stuff aint the topic of the H.A.M.B. But if the admins give me an OK for two wheels stuff here, I'll post some art on two wheels too. I like to draw the traditional way and build later a silk screen frame when a design is finished so I can print some art on shirts, hoodies and other parts like, a door or a side cover for example. Gonna try to print some on skateboards too later, probably next year.

I started two days ago with a few designs for the H.A.M.B. which are still in progress and take their time so I've been busy till late night / early mornings the last 48 hours. Gonna post a few pix later, when I switch to the rotten apple phone where I have some shots saved. When I'm busy I forget the time and can work easy over 10 hours so sometimes I take a nap at 4 - 5 am or maybe 8 - 10 when I'm way too tired.

Here is the first one I like to share with you with some pix of progress and a result as an example I did in the appartment I lived before I moved over to the new place.

There are 3 steps before I can finally print. 1st I draw a design on Millimeter paper to get the proportions the way that look ok to me. 2nd I put an OHP film over that paper and draw it with a permanent marker. When done I build in the 3rd step a frame out of wood, some skrews, silk screen material and staples so I can develop a design finally and print it on stuff I mentioned in the text above.

Here are some pix of an early 1934-1935 chopped n slammed kustom Ford V8 Model 48 taildragger hot rod with flame throwin pipes and fender skirts.

So far I printed only one with royal blue over a navy blue hoodie on the back. Gonna try some other combinations like black over heather grey when I finally can pick up my silk screen stuff that is actually stored in a garage around 600 km away. Hope to find a nice shed next year where I can wrench on projects again. Also hope to build some of the art I draw in real. Btw. it is possible that there are some differences in some pictures coz I do lots of corrections till I'm finally happy with a result. Like the tail lights on pic 1 and 2 for example.

Hope I put it in the correct section Art & Inspiration but am not sure coz this is the first thread I opened. Feel free to move it to the correct one if it shows up in the wrong one. Gonna upload a few other designs with less bla bla and later some progress pix of the H.A.M.B.

    cheers n greetz from Berlin

Love that hot shot! Marky of Shifters cc rules. Saw it first time in HOT ROD mag and Chrom und Flammen (Chrome and Flames) or Street mag and had a poster for long time after I lost it somehow after I moved to another place. But I do have the issue with another special edition and a great article bout the Shifters cc and their hot rods. Are members of em here too?

Dig the white on red log so I try to create a lil different version. Not sure if it is ok to add 'c.c.' or I should change it as am not sure if the car club actually exists or we found one finally with plaques for alliance members with pre '64 rides etc. Stickers are possible too but I w'd need help or a progress to digitalize those. Guess that would be or already is the greatest, koolest and biggest car club world wide. Could be also a way to support the H.A.M.B. to collect some bucks for events n other stuff and maybe get some old and new members more involved. Inspire kids , tins, gearheads to start or finish the one or another projekt. What ya all think? Yes or No and why? I can also remove the c.c. part and add 'since 1995' or do both or something else. Input, critics, ideas are highly welcome.

Dont know why the text is under the pix n not above. Need more practise n experience here.

Al, run these HAMB logos by Ryan, maybe we can coax him into some new tag toppers! Thanks for showing your process, most don't realize how long is takes to make Art, especially when you consider that artists tend to be their worst critics. Thanks for sharing, Carp.

Thx @catdad49 , I'll post later some more pix and try to talk to Ryan this weekend. Love the original logo but hope he and others like the other versions I'm busy with. Had to strech it a bit to add the lettering. I don't wanna make any profit with it, just try to support the H.A.M.B. and yeah it takes many many hours to create and finish a design. Yesterday I worked easy over 12 hours with my very primitive and old technic so it's like time doesnt exist, I just enjoy the progress n worked till 8 am, woke up at 1 pm and am sitting on the drawing board again... 2:20 pm here. Sometimes I need a week or two till a design is finished finally. Cheers

Sometimes things take longer than planned.. also figured out I have to correct some stuff coz some letters look different as on the other version n I gonna remove cc n add est 1999 and move the H 5 mm to the right. If ya have a closer look ya see the difference between the two designs and letters.

Gonna post a pic of a '58 Edsel in the next post I'm busy with since two or three days for Losers Hero as a lil surprise but will delete it within 24h coz it aint traditional period correct. E61D3144-D709-4010-ACDC-9F7E4A8E8B8A.jpeg 01D8EFB3-9344-42E2-9310-180DFDCADF94.jpeg

I may be wrong, but I think the Hamb Logo is copywriter and you need to get Ryans permission to use it.

You may be right @BJR bout permission and TM but I don't gonna sell those, just playin with some modified designs and interpretations and ask him later if he wanna use em when I'm finally done. I would only make one print with permission to show the result.

Nope @lilCowboy I don't think so, maybe some 50's pre punk stuff but Germ had some Losers Hero shirts with Rocky Dennis for sale and I bought one and I know Germ likes punk, I do too, so I just shared it as an excuse for being busy with that one and just made today a few more steps on the H.A.M.B. designs but if Ryan says they suck then it's ok to me, if he likes em and wanna use em it's ok to me too so it's just a gift. The lettering design is leaned more to the traditional days with letters only black on white without any frames or signs like skulls, card etc. Sure Ryan has the last word but I can show him the result only when it's done. Pictures can show or say more than thousand words. Sure it would be nice if he likes the idea and design / interpretation later and put it in the shop but the end is still open. In worst case I wasted some time, in best case it could make the members more active in the forum and in real life. I do have lots of free time and I like to make others happy but it's also a risk coz some could be pissed.
    cheers

PS: Kool you recognized Rocky Dennis. Looks a bit older and fucked and like he never died but got into punk. It's just art like Jesus on a unicorn at Burger King Drive In.

Not NOFX but they named their band after Negative FX from Boston, founded by Jack Kelly, who later founded the band Last Rights and finally SLAPSHOT @slayer. I made me once a PISS ON DISCO shirt with SLAYER font. Would like to add more hardcore punk bands like Reagon Youth, Madball, Rykers, Blood For Blood etc. but am limited in space on that Edsel. Rocky Dennis died way before these bands were founded. But in my imagination it's kinda funny to see him in the car slapped with all the band logos. Sometimes I think to found a band when I find nuff fucks here called Klagemauer (in german) or wailing wall / lamentation wall (in english). After I had a lil longer power nap and slammed the first two beers for breakfast I'm back at the drawing board now. Got to fix the lettering on Ryan's modified H.A.M.B. logo and draw a pocket version. So I can show him and ask for his opinion but I would only ask for permission if I can print me one or two of em on a shirt and a hoodie for myself and for him as a gift too and if he can print those or has a dude who could do in USA. Just in case he likes it and maybe put em in the shop for the H.A.M.B.. Same with Germ / Jack / Losers Hero.

I think that would look great and funny @lilCowboy

    Cheers n greetz from Berlin

I appreciate the enthusiasm and have no problem with you creating art based off the HAMB brand so long as there is no profiting. However, this is turning more into an arts and crafts thread than a hot rod thread. I'd suggest posting your final on the Friday art show or something...
