Ardun race car

Discussion in 'What's It Worth?' started by flatheadfever, Dec 8, 2023.

  1. This car is for sale privately until it goes on BAT in the spring.
Runs good, converted back to gasoline from Alcohol.
Has a starter and alternator installed. Electric fuel pump
Everything saved to convert back to a full race car.
    Has history
What’s it worth to buy? What would it fetch on BAT or Mecums? IMG_8189.jpeg

It has a limited market BAT is the best place to get it seen. There are 2 prices. 1 as it sits and the other attached to it's proven history. If it's a famous car or has documented famous drivers it can vastly improve the selling price.

The Ardun V8 simply states that it is Ardun V8 powered. That alone runs the tab up in the right circles. If the car doesn't have a real race history running that engine with proof that it did, there are folks who will buy the car for the engine and it will be for sale with no engine or a flathead in short order.
From there it is the actual race history of the car that adds value above and beyond he value of the engine and the value of a nice but unknown history chassis. Raced at _____ won_____&_______. Driven by_____,____,______,______&_______. in this that and another race. That goes for any real race car though. Actual photos of it being raced or sitting in the winners circle add value as that is a big deal with the folks that might haul it to one of the vintage circle track events or have it in their collection.

I don’t think it has a super detailed history but this is suppose to be the car back in the day. It had a Riley then an Offy and in the early 50s the Ardun installed

I would think it depended on if a known driver had it.

Some of the things from the original picture differ from the current picture. Now that's not to say things thing couldn't have been changed over the years.

  10. Quite a bit in the 60 or so years. It has wide 5s for wheels now.

You going to race it, or use the parts for something else? I'm sure that top end would command some moneys.

  15. My friend in his 80s is going to sell it.
