I think the letter version looks simple and kool just like on old traditional car club shirts. I don't sell those as shirts or other stuff but if Ryan and H.A.M.B. members would like to have one he can print these versions and put em in the shop of course.

Approximately two weeks to the happy winter holiday extravaganza. So, for those that do not have the mailing list ready or any cards picked out recently or even held over from last post 25th sales boxes, here is a project that will impress your hot rod friends. The simple project usually takes about 25 minutes to finish. For your first time, perhaps a little longer in time...

    POP UP CHRISTMAS CARD

    [IMG] [IMG]

    Hello,

Our resident Photoshop expert “The Moose” gave me a great idea for anyone to make and send a custom Christmas card to friends. It is a simple pop up card with only two slices or cuts in them. If you want to hide the cuts, simply add in another similar card stock on the outside and glue it to the one with the cut.

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
    1. Printer paper, photograph of a car, family, or both
    2. A thicker, smooth card stock paper that will be sturdy
    3. An envelope that fits or the custom pattern below.
    4. Xacto knife, cutting board, etc.

    Steps: practice
    1. Select the photograph, size it to your liking, making sure that it is in focus.
    2. Select the practice printer paper and do the whole project first
    3. Fold the paper in half
    4. Open it up and measure out where you want the pop up step to stick out.
    5. Draw the thin pencil lines on the sides where you will be making cuts.
    6. Once the cuts are made, go to the top and bottom to make a gentle
crease/fold. It helps the pop out step do its thing correctly.
    7. Practice opening and closing the folded card to check out the pop out step.
    8. Make you corrections on the practice paper.
    9. Once the cuts allow the pop out section to fold correctly, then you are ready.

    Steps for the final:

    1. Make your outside card from the card stock paper
    2. Make your cuts
    3. Help the folds fold/lean correctly
    4. Measure the area where the photograph will be glued down
    5. Adjust the photograph size to fit
    6. Print out your photograph on card stock
    7. Glue to the front of the fold out surface that will lay down.
    8. You may use color card stock, plain white or add your own color
    9. Above and below the pop out photo, there is plenty of space for greetings, family notes, etc.

If your mailing list is 25+, it will take a while, but it is still “doable.” Customize a photo for each family member or friend. Or use the same photo for all photo projects.

For those that do bot have envelopes pre made to fit the project size, make your own. measure out your finished project and get a nice larger sheet of paper to measure and trim to fit the finished project card. the folding envelope pattern is simple to draw and as large or small as your finished hot rod folding, pop up card is, the custom envelope is simple to make and glue together.

  7. Good morning. Yeah Sharpone I built or (played with) models since I was a kid. The wrecked shoebox in this post has a funny story. I built and then Wrecked it as a kid. At the time I had even put a little rubber man in it with his head through the windshield. And just Like a kid would do. I cut my finger so to put blood on him and down the door of the car. When I came home from school one day my mom was furious with me. She threw the model in the trash, and made me promise I would never do it again. I then dug it out of the trash, I washed the blood off, and took the little man out. I put it back in the box and kept it. Lol

I really like it. You do some very impressive work. I also built many models as a kid but your stuff is at a much higher level, loved the story about the the little rubber man and blood the things kids do, gotta love it.

FA0BBFAA-AAE4-4DEE-82C6-70B402F0716B.jpeg Well here we go again... Just finished the modified big logo version but fucked up a few lil details on the lettring and the lil corner on top right, the stars aint perfect too. Shame on me but thats all hand drawing without computero copy and paste tricks. However, here is the result.

Reminds me a bit of an old car club plaque when I look a it now.
