All right back on the rear end of the car inner fender templates have been made IMG_8262.jpeg cut out of some 18ga and rolled they were ready to be tack welded in IMG_8263.jpeg grinding off the old undercoating where I needed to weld really wasn’t fun I think I can still smell in my noise and I had a respirator on  but got the in place now and ready for seam sealer and new undercoating IMG_8386.jpeg will get some better pictures before painting but happy it’s done! Still need to roll out some round stock for the fender flares but that can be done when we spray the car with red oxide primer.

Pinion angle was set to 3° so I could finish welding plates to axle IMG_8382.jpeg IMG_8381.jpeg Also got the rear brake line tied in! Axle was set 1in back from stock.

Fuel lines were ran IMG_8379.jpeg IMG_8385.jpeg IMG_8383.jpeg With the headers dry it was a tight fit with the deeper oil pan but we got them on and I think they look great IMG_8375.jpeg IMG_8376.jpeg IMG_8377.jpeg IMG_8389.jpeg IMG_8388.jpeg Ready to finish this exhaust now stay tuned we ordered a couple straights and some u bends and a set of thrush mufflers can’t wait to get it all cut and welded up and mounted! The headers are actually pretty cool , They are old S&S 1 3/4 primary street rod headers that my friend Paul had on his 52 chevy pick up that runs 10.50s My friend Scott built him some big headers and these have been hanging on my rafters for 4 or 5 years.

Why did you choose to move the axle back from stock, is it a fitment thing or is there a performance gain?

A shame they stopped making them, I have two sets, one set for my roadster and the other set I modified for my 67 Nova.

  15. No greater improvement for a Ford than installing a Chevy engine. Looks great.

We moved axle back for tire clearance as the rear tubs are pretty tight at the forward edge, early Chevy II have the same issue.
