Nope, had it for about 25 years. One of those deals where I needed more room.....and like every guy's hindsight - should have made more room and kept it.

I had a few examples of cars, rusted busted hulks.
I used to call them "rope cars"
Never had the time, skill, or resource$ to do anything other than piss off the neighbors
Have owned seven pre-war cars. Two of them actually ran.

  5. 41fordindiana.jpg In 1962 after graduating from high school I bought a 53' Ford Victoria for $20.00. I got it running and that was about all. On a whim I decided to go to work for my uncle while on a family visit to Indiana. While there I bought a 41' Ford convertible. My father scrapped the 53' Paid $295.00 for the 41'. Candy apple red, frenched headlight, 49' ford taillights frenched in, louvred hood, all seams filled, 48'Ford flathead, 39' tranny. black & whited tuck and roll interior. I still have it.

  6. I traded my soapbox derby car for a 40 Chevy 4dr sedan, took the hood trim off and filled the deck lid holes with Soilo that concrete stuff used for sewer pipes, gave the trunk lid a shot of primer and I had a "Custom". I was 13 and parked it down the street so my folks wouldn't know I had it. Drove it late at night in low gear cause I didn't know how to shift it. That was in 1957.

A 1952 Ford Customline, given to me from my Granddad. Boy, did I rack up the mileage on that car!
My buddy and I lived in it and a small tent we eventually acquired during the summer of 1967, for two months during Expo '67 in Montreal. $3.40 filled the tank but we still had to resort to some minor criminality to make it home and feed ourselves. Good times. 1952 Customline.jpg

'40 ford pick up, bought it in the end of '68. This is one of the few pictures I can find. I put a 283 and 3 speed in it and a '57 chevy rear axle. Made the spring hangers and ladder bars from pictures I had seen in Popular Hot Rodding and Hot Rod. Ended up with a dual quad 409 my Dad gave me in '72. Wish I still had it. Having this truck and working on it in advanced metal shop and advanced auto shop is probably why I graduated high school. IMG_1442.JPG

  12. Yep, that's why you won't see mine. The mechanicals were 1960 but it was a 'glass bodied VW based dune buggy I put together in my folks' single car garage. Totally O/T. But it was fun, had a lot of good times with it. Even got my high school girlfriend to push-start it when the starter went out!
Lotsa cool stories and pics in this thread though - keep 'em coming!

63 Impala in 1972,was a 283 powerglide. Kid in school totaled his 64 SS409 Impala so I bought it and put the engine, 4 speed trans and interior in this car. The first car I ever painted, Dupont 99L black lacquer. View attachment 5918395

Much like That 70's Show on TV, my first car was the family wagon, a maroon country squire to be exact. I had a lot of good times in it and I have kicked around some ideas to recreate something in its honor. We'll see.

1963 Buick Flxible Ambulance, light metallic green, with 2 tone green interior. Don't remember the size of the engine, but had no exhaust, or floors, and was rusted out into the middle of the doors. I got it drivable, and then I fell through the floor, and took the metal brake line out. I then got sent to military school, (for reasons we wont discuss), and my Dad sold it while I was gone. I've been trying to find another one, ever since.

My first car was a 1956 Buick Special. It was in perfect condition, I paid fifty dollars for it, but only because it had a new set of snow tires that were worth twenty five dollars. I of course, being 13 and all, completely trashed it driving it on rocky rutty roads around the farm. There are a couple of these I see around town. Nice to see. I found this picture online.

My first car was a 1951 Ford Convertible. I got if in my second year of college. Against my mothers wishes I drove it back to school in January. It was one of the worst snow storms in western New York. The winds even tore about a one inch gap in the top over the drivers door. Also when I got to Rochester the lights died. I tapped them a couple of times after praying for a while and they did come finally come on. It was snowing so hard at that point but a 63 chevy passed me going very fast and I followed his tail lights for about 75 miles and turned off near the college. The next day all is you could see in the parking lot were the radio antennas. that was in 1959 so No photos but the car did hold up. Car was all original Tom
