  2. For sure there pricey, but can you really put a price on cool. lol

  3. Thanks! That was just a picture, I have not decided what would be appropriate for the front yet. Did get my rear reverse eye main leaf ordered. Still trying to get the brakes drums and wheel bearings sorted out before I order the rubber for the rear. The build has given me a little paralysis of the analysis for a minute. I finally decide to just get focused on the rear until its complete. Then going to start the front axle, think I have the parts I need. Probably either wire wheel my frame or have it blasted while I wait for parts to come in. Really don't know what the hell I'm doing but I suppose I will figure it out as I go.

You could get some Blockley Crossply tires, but they only get to 6.50X16. But they're way cheaper

I have them on my '29 roadster, and really like them...

  7. Wow those look nice! Can’t wait to find me a roadster body!!

  8. I sure do like coming home to new hot rod parts! I got my reverse eye main spring from Millworks! This guys are a pleasure to deal with on the phone! Looking forward to my next order with them.
Still trying to button up the rear end. I plan to call the early ford store next week to try and source some wheel cylinders and brake pads and springs to get the backing plates loaded up. I may even bite the bullet and order a pair of the firestones from Coker’s I’m really itching to get them mounted on my wheels.

Spend a few bucks and have it blasted. All a wire wheel really does is sorta slick up the surface, but any rust you want to get rid of is still there. Clean blasted metal with a couple coats of epoxy primer will still be good 40 years from now.

  14. Thanks! its slow going but I'm about to turn up the heat. I'm planning to build my complete chassis and running gear and hoping to upgrade my nice sedan body for a roadster body along the way. I have roadster fever bad!

If your still looking at tires, compare 7.50 to 7.00-16. They are a touch shorter but a lot wider and have a better more original kind of look to them.

They tend to be. A touch less expensive as well.

  16. The 7.00-16?

Yes. When I built my truck I wanted 7.00-16 rthaer than 7.50-16. I was pleasantly surprised when they were a little cheaper.

  19. Quick update on how the build is going. Been busy with work and family and holidays like everyone else I’m sure.
Noticed a set of 35 wire wheels for sale fairly local to me and the price seemed right. I really have no reason for another set but what can I say I’m a hoarder or at least starting to. I called the older gentleman a week ago and told him I’d like to take a look at them after the holidays if he still had them. Also put out a feeler with him looking for speed parts for my 8ba. He hinted around that he had a few things but sounded like they weren’t for sale.
Fast forward to today and I decided to call and make the drive to grab the wheels. Showed up at his place which was a giant barn. Went in the shop and sure enough he had a decent looking set of wheels and for the price I was sure I was going to be packing them up. Notice he had an Edmund’s 2x2 intake sitting on a table so being curious I inquired if it was available, he said it was. To my surprise he also said he had a set of Fenton heads for an 8ba that he would part with. He disappeared into the barn and returned with a really nice set of heads.
I’m not going to lie, I don’t know if Fenton heads have been repoped, hoping some one will chime in. I’m doing some research on that here tonight. We talked on price and I let him know that I was interested and would let him. Know in the next couple days. I did ask if he happened to have a Fenton 2x2 intake to match the heads and he didn’t say.
So we finish up our conversation I strike a deal on the wheels and I load them up and leave. I probably hadn’t made it down the road 10 miles and my phone rings. It’s the nice gentleman calling to let me know that he had stumbled across a Fenton intake in his stuff lol.
He was a very nice guy and easy to work with. I let him know I’d be in touch and would be back to take a look.
So my question is are Fenton heads and intakes repoped? Thanks in advance for any advice! IMG_7402.jpeg

I’ve never seen any repop Fenton stuff. It was a low cost brand to begin with, and they made a lot of parts. Kinda silly to repro something that is still available.

always check the heads over with a fine tooth comb look for any damage to the water passages or cracks in fins, ect,ect lots of guys with old heads think they are worth what a brand new set is and its easy to get burned on buying old flathead heads.

Tried buying mine through Summit and ended up on a wait for 6 months until they finally canceled the order.

Always nice to have one to drive and one to work on! Enjoy
P.S. Best to take pictures in the sun not the shade.
