Curious if anyone has ever used a fan powered trans cooler as a a/c condenser. Since most of the trans coolers I've seen are so much smaller than a/c condensers, just wondered if it would work. If it would work, that would allow me to mount the trans cooler in another location other than in front of the radiator.
It won't work well enough to satisfy the temperature demands of Central TX, if at all. If you're going to try something, mount a condenser elsewhere and try an electric fan on it.
Thanks guys, that's what I needed to know. The remote 1217 a/c condenser that Southern Street Rods sells looks like the one to use.
A transmission cooler will not have nearly enough capacity to act as a/c condenser. As 325w pointed out, a transmission cooler will not withstand the pressures found in an a/c system. High side pressure on a hot day could easily reach 350 psi.
