Projects Inner trunk panels

What do these panels do, what purpose do they serve?? Are they necessary?

they are for my 33 5 window.

 

Strength, and something for the lid to seal up against.

 

Is it a set? Both are needed?

 

The one with the curves fits up inside the outer tail panel. The other I think screws to that and basically forms a trough to hold the latch and catch water.

 

Oh ok. I didn't have those pieces and I was wondering how the trunk latches. I welded a bracket and loop behind the below the deck panel to catch the handle.

 

I should probably get those pieces??
