    The Jolly Green Giant later ran a blower. I believe they got this car because at first you could only get the 396 in a big Chevy

    Ron Tonkin Chevrolet in Portland, sponsored a yellow 396 Chevelle in 1965, called the Freedom Rider !

  9. NHRA slowly relaxed the rules for supercharged gas coupes in the mid to late sixties. This led to the omission of the full exhaust system, front brakes and eventually the need for the headers to end in a collector. It was all a gradual transition over a period of years as evidenced in this great collection of photos we enjoy.

    Looks like "64" Indy. Most everybody stayed in town. Not many motels out around Indy. Landy's tow vehicle and his "64" Dodge parked at the curb. Great times. This might be the car that had 180 degree headers? Anybody remember?
