History Production date of Fenton 2x2 manifold?

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by throughbeingcool, Dec 19, 2023.

  1. Hello, I'm trying to nail down a production date on this Fenton manifold I'm planning on picking up tomorrow. I know these things are pretty common, but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out when, exactly, this style was produced. I'm hoping pre-'53; I think this predates the rebranded Sharp 2x2s Fenton sold later. I did a search and found nothing - apologies if this has been covered and I overlooked it.

You probably found the same flatspot piece that I did. I'm going to say that either you like it or you don't. I know that Edmonds was always changing the script on his intakes and heads but I don't think Fenton did.

I've got three Fenton catalogs; '53, '56, and '59. I'll take a look at them tonight.

  4. Yup, same article I found. Kind of wild that these intakes were apparently so ubiquitous yet there's so little concrete info about them!

Thank you so much! I appreciate that a lot!

The first magazine ads for Fenton are mid-year '53.

  6. Thanks! I picked the manifold up this afternoon. Looks like it'll clean up nice.

Haven't found my 1953 catalog yet, but here it is in the '56. As you can see, the '56 catalog shows both your intake and the Sharp style intake.

Years ago, I pawed through all of my old car magazines looking for ads for Chevrolet/GMC speed equipment, and the earliest ad I found for Fenton headers was in a magazine from September 1952.

  10. Thanks HEATHEN! Very cool info in that catalog page you posted. Mine looks like it might have been polished at some point - it's very smooth. Should polish up again nicely. Just have to be careful about pulling out these old studs. Let me know if you find that '53 catalog. Here's another photo I took this evening.
