Working on 33 model 77 and wondering if anyone has found a 7/8" disc/disc tandem master cylinder other than Wilwood. Would rather pay $50/$60 than $3-400 to get the same effect. I know there's a couple 7/8" disc/drums out there from GM, Ford . It's under frame mount so I could care less if its fancy looking, just one that will work. Wilwood tech guy's did the math for that size master cylinder with my brake system, so i'm pretty sure this is the correct size.
Rock Auto list a 7/8" for an '89 Corvette at about $120 but they're the log type with the plug in plastic reservoirs. I've not seen a 7/8" in the archetypal "Corvette style" in my usual sources. Looking a bit spartan in the foot room department, made worse by that chunky hoop. I realise it's a gl*** car and some strengthening required and something to hang the column off, but..... on the other hand, I have big feet ( huh?) and these things concern me! Chris
Wilwood sells individual bowl master cylinders, small ones, that bolt together and operate off the pedal, one MC for front brakes and one for the rear. Doing them like that you can size them different and bleed front & rear separate from each other. They're sold by Wilwood, CNC and a few others.
We use side by sides in our race with an adjustable tie bar but there is no reason they can’t be used in your use. They are 3/4” and it’s a disc/disc system. I use one on just the rears on my LSR roadster.
thanks, yeah the plastic reservoirs are ugly, as for room ,the pics make it look tighter than it is,and with the dash board on it covers the column and "chunky hoop. probably just have to buck up for the Wilwood. Not building a "show car" just a "go car." actually that's what i have on my 40 Plymouth G***er,( kinda g***er, don't want to upset the g***er diehards). works fine but this one is all ready set upon the ch***is. Thanks
