I moved my battery from the front of my '54 into the trunk when I painted the engine compartment. I ran the leads and the car cranks over, first ime in about 14 months! But I was wondering if anybody had a cool looking battery box that kinda hid what was really inside.

An old Coca-cola cooler, or other vintage metal cooler works well for hiding batterys. Just make sure it can't ground out on anything. It's kinda like making a fibergl*** car look rusty, but then if it weren't all about image and getting "the look", you wouldnt be concerned about hiding your battery :D

You are right about the image part! A cooler is a little too big for where it's at. But maybe a box off an older tractor? Thanks, Bugman

    they seal up pretty nice,too.
just do yourself a favor and either leave the litle caps on the battery or lay something rubber across the top while you test fit...

bad things happen if you dont. I never claimed to particularly smart...

There was someone here that posted a picture of his battery in an old oil case box. It was kinda neat, in that, my trunk is full of junk, kinda way.

I do like the ammo can idea, can I get one big enough for a regular size battery? Definantly rubber over the battery.

    Thanks, Tim

We have bought cheap sears tool boxes... they are a little big but if you drill the spot welds out on one side you can take a few inches off them and weld the side back on, then paint it woth hameer tone or wrinkle finish....

Oh...do the same thing to the top too.

I really like this Idea and I have enough old tool boxes around that I am certain I can make one of them fit and look good at the same time. Thanks for the Idea. Gumpa

I was thinking maybe an old suitcase, hatbox or a picnic basket would be a neat idea as well. Just depends on the overall look you want out of it.
