Going back through this thread on a cold snowy day in Illinois - should mention they were the 1971 NHRA World Champs in Comp - also the 23 T gave Tom his second Indy Comp Eliminator win.

Again, technically it would e classified as a /Street Roadster, not an altered.
(And maybe a Dodge at that!)

    Oops I overlooked the fenders.

  12. Wow. The cycle fenders make me wonder what hot rod that axle was mounted too.

Never seen that one, but I like it! Looks like it evolved; 60's chassis but with a 70's tunnel ram. Great Lakes Drag-O-Way?

yep Great Lakes around 1990-1995. I haven’t found another like it yet. He also had his rear fender flares cut and flared in the rear.

FB_IMG_1702572234308.jpg would this be considered an altered with just rear fenders?

Sure -- most of them have no fenders.

Yes. In addition, it was center steered. Street Roadsters could not be center steered, although some altereds could be offset steered. That, plus a significant engine setback, no hood, no headlights would most assuredly place it in the Altered class.

I think Paul Osmond and Don Kilby 's Blown Steel Fiat was featured in Rod and Custom "Little"magazine back in the day ?? The second picture is what I understand is the 1960 US Nationals at Indy. Looks like a Blown Caddy engine to me ??
