OK, here's a few quick shots I took the other day. It's really hard to see any detail of the space frame since it's black and it disappears against the background, but you get the idea. It's going to be a close replica of the earlier Ardun powered T he built in the late 60's. Some things will be the same or very similar, some things very different. I'll try to make some time soon to start a new thread with better pictures and more detail for anyone who's interested. He's expecting to be done with it sometime in the spring. He better, I have tons of work I need him to do here at my shop and he doesn't have time right now until he's done with his car!!! I've been building and working on hot rods and flatheads since the 80's. Now...for the first time my dad asked me if I was interested in taking over the Ardun business from him. I said well......hmmmm, I don't know for sure.....hmmm, let me think about it. HELL FREAKIN YEAH!!! Matt
Yeah, I've got tons of pics and home 8mm movies of that stuff. I've got tons and tons of 8mm home movies of the first few NSRA nationals, tons of cool cars and other stuff. I should put out a dvd of my dads stuff??? Matt
Is this one of those trick marketing questions? Does the Pope live in the Vatican? Does Plowboy build wild machines? Yeah, I'd guess you might find a few interested rodders. I seem to have fond memories of your dad toolin' around at Memphis, Detroit, Tulsa? Sayonara was the T roadster from another planet!
Hey, good to hear from you Matt; last time we emailed each other you said that your dads bud, Don kendall was out in Calif. Heard anymore about him? Again, like I said, His and your dads roadsters BLEW ME AWAY!!!! WOW (That was 40 years ago) Bring on the pics, I got a full pot o coffee, never did see the finished project 200 roadster. Rod & Custom stopped print about half way through the build. Thanks for your time, OLY The cancer car lives Give to cancer research
Matt, Put me down for another Hell yes to putting together the movies, etc. I rode with Cotton in the mid engine car when at the Nats. I met him at the first one, and started building a similar framed T, but with Indy style independent front and rear. Rear had early V8 quick change adapted to vette outer hubs, and it had a 60's style Indy nose and side panels going up to the body...power....a SCOT blown flathead. It got featured in Rod and Custom around 1970 in the "garage cars" section. I've still got it as a project to finish up(...it would be so out of style now, that it would be "in"...hahaha) a few 32's got in the way. I got to speak to your dad last year, it was a great "reunion" over the phone.....he couldn't believe the amount of interest in his work by folks nowdays. Thanks for the updates on one of the "early true innovators of Hot Rods" Skot Ingram
Matt........the ch***is looks really good. Did your dad use the plywood bulkhead frame jig set up to build the frame.... like on the original car? Do you have any pic's of the old Bob Knaack roadster? Any and all build pic's of any of those cars would be VERY interesting. Thanks, Dennis
Hey Matt, don't forget to include Cotton's & Don Kendall's ***ociate membership in the L.A. Roadster club back then, where I met them both at Detroit Nats in 1972, when I drove my 32' roadster from L.A. & back, 5000 miles---2 weeks-----Don
Everybody who had a camera and saw either SAYONORA or the mid engined 27 roadster took pictures of them!!! I know I have some of both in my "archives" I just have to go find them, scan them and post them. It's hard for me to believe there's not a ton of them posted already. BILL RINALDI
Two of his cars were at Louisville this year for the NSRA 50th show. WOW. What a treat to see them. I didn't get the time to take any pix as I was scrambling about trying to get parts to fix my little truck (long sob story for another time). Surely someone else took some detail pix, eh? Gary
I saw the T at Tulsa in 1973. I think I got to talk to him for about 30 seconds before some gladhander came running up and shoved me out of the way. If I can ever find the album I had a couple of photos of it that I took.
