    Chuck,

This photo choked me up...it is so cool your mom and dad were able to be reunited with their old hot rod!

  11. NOTE: In addition to building the Deuce 5wd Coupe in 1957, Charlie Ott has also built a few "Skirtless" Model 40 Fords ... including the aforementioned '33 Vicky Street Rod:

    . . . and a beautifully restored 1933 Victoria:

Terrific road trip and story, I vaguely remember seeing that skirtless Victoria at the Lake Tahoe meet in 2013.

  14. Chuck (@Ott's Garage) Ott brought the Ott Family Deuce 5wd Coupe to the GGs Arch Logo.jpg 36th West Coast Nationals held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California.

Here's a few of my snapshots from Friday, August 25th:

Shortly after taking these pics, I introduced myself to Chuck (& his wife Lisa) and mentioned that I noticed the Coupe had already been picked for an award (i.e., there was a yellow GGs sticker on the headlight) . . . Chuck explained that Alex (@axle) Idzardi had just picked the car for the Coolest '50s award . . . and then I explained that every year since my father passed away, I’m tasked with picking a car for the "Deuce Bruce" Olson Memorial Award . . . and that this year I would like to honor my father's memory by picking the Deuce 5wd Coupe that his father (Chuck Ott Sr.) also bought in 1954 (less its engine) and Hot Rodded in the late '50s.*

    * NOTE: My dad purchased his Deuce 5wd Coupe (less its engine) in 1954 and Hot Rodded it in the late '50s . . . albeit my dad's coupe was chopped & channeled, fenderless, and ran a 331ci Chrysler HEMI (vice a 303ci Olds) . . . but both coupes still have the black & white tuck 'n roll interiors originally done in 1957 ... and both coupes have interior door handles, 'flipper' window cranks, & escutcheon plates out of a late '40s or early '50s Chrysler

    Stay tuned!

Hey Chuck, I’m onboard with everyone who’s already commented. Read this when first you posted it and just killing time while it rains today, found it and reread it. So neat. To find and purchase it is one thing, then driving it home another. But the icing on the cake is having your mom and dad there to be a part of the occasion. You sir are living on lucky street. Blessings to you and your family, Merry Christmas and hope you get the hubcap replaced.

Earlier, I mentioned about car with a similar IFS swap but didn't show pictures. Here it is from the Oct. 1964 issue of Popular Hot Rodding. You can see the bulges in the fenders to clear the suspension along with a bit of the splash apron between the front of the fenders like on the Ott car. Scan-190407-0001.jpg
