So my 62 Pontiac safari has power brakes. They actually work fine, but the booster has an audible leak that needs to be fixed. Hard to try and tune on the engine when it clearly has an open vacuum leak. Long story short it has a later model 11 inch booster with some sort of electrical connection. So Im trying to ID what this booster might be from. I’ve talked to Scarebird some about my best options to go with for a booster and dual pot MC, so I have a good plan forward. But because this dude is already in there and clearly fits. I would kinda like to know what it is. As I understand you usually have to modify the bolt pattern in your firewall to use a later booster on early B bodies and I see no evidence of that with this one. So if whatever this is will just bolt in that that would be good information to know, especially if its a readily available booster, ugly electrical plug and all. It certainly possible that when I get it out I may see where someone gacked the holes to make it fit, but from what I can see now it doesnt look like it. I looked for a stamping and couldn’t find one but if someone can tell me where to look I can get out a mirror and flashlight. Any help is appreciated.
It looks a bit like a GM Weatherpak connector on whatever that is stuck in the booster. Maybe a sensor to kick in an electric vacuum pump. Some GM models mid-90s and up used a vacuum pump to supplement manifold vacuum. Maybe Camaros, Astro Vans, big C body Olds, Buicks Cadillacs . .? Don't remember exactly which models and don't recognize that specific booster. But that might narrow down your search a bit.
