A buddy used to get these from the bread delivery guys,we'd weld whatever brackets we needed on them, put engines,******s,whatever heavy on them to move around the garage.I KNOW I've seen the same types for sale, don't remember where.Don't want the cheap"furniture" **** from Northern, and don't have time to make them from scratch, working 7 days a week.Using computer search leads to **** big enough to hold the planet, for big $$$$$.I've gotta bring 2 engines with ******s home soon, need to move them around the ba*****t.Not looking for the type that's specific for a particular engine, just the heavy duty rectangular ones..Anybody know who sells these? TIA Bill

I went to Harbor Freight (just up the road from me) and bought a couple wooden furniture dollies. Work great, hold a ton and if I need to put something irregular on them like an engine with an oilpan I just screw down an old tire and plop the engine on it. Cheap and easy at about 16.00 each. Can't build them for that. In fact you can't buy just the casters for that.
    Good luck!

I just did the furniture dolly thing - he's right, you can't buy the casters for what the whole thing costs. My banger motor sits on it perfect.

Maybe not the cheapest you'll ever find, but U-Haul sells 'em.

  7. Skratch uses cut down shopping carts. I've tried it, and they're great. Engines trans, rearends, anything heavy. Whenever someone leaves one in front of my house...........................

I was out in LA visiting awhile ago and we went grocery shopping. There were signs up all over saying that the carts would not work outside of the parking lot. Hadn't ever heard of such a thing before, and I didn't believe it, so I tried to leave the lot with a cart. Sure enough, one of the wheels locked up. Damndest thing I'd ever seen...

You don't need to steal it, do the honest thing and ask. I have about 8 of them in my garage and got them simply by asking the super market manager. They are inspected regularly and if they don't p*** they're taken out of service, usually they're just rusty. He probably had close to 2 dozen sitting behind the store for me to choose from. Cut the basket off and if you do it right you don't even need to do any welding. They work great.

Don't put a hemi on the Harbor Freight wooden dollies....When I hit a small crack in the floor the dolly broke and dumped my 241 red ram onto the floor.. EVILT

I have a couple furniture dollies for small motors and I have found a couple shopping carts cut down and thrown in my yard recently. when they are nice enough to attach the handle it makes them easier to move around too :)
