Hello all, hoping for some help. Have not been on here in a long time. Getting my 59 wagon back together and need help understanding how the rear windows stay in the channel. There are no clips behind the window. The book says to place sealer in the channel. Are these sealed in place and then held into the channel by the molding? It does the seal fold over the lip of the window. I know the bottom does but I don't think the top does.

They just kind of float within the rubber seal. They are easy to reseal.
I believe I put the seal on the gl*** and added those suction holders on one side
I also added the pull to the inside. I lingered up the gl*** and started at the bottom
My wife pushed from the outside and as it sets in you pull the rope to get the rubber lip over the edge. You can used soapy water for less friction.
i don't use a sealant. Just went in as is.

Seals are available from most places and the gl*** is too.
I think it take mores time to remove the trim and clean the area than the actual installation of the gl*** and seal.

My 56 was partially dis***embled when I got it so not sure how it was originally but now the gl*** just sets in the channel and all held in place by the interior trim.

I took my car apart and now it time to go back together. They were stuck in place but now they are very loose. I am looking for universal seal as they don't make them as my original seal is not going back in right. There is no lip on mine. Only on the bottom.

Mine came from Restorationspecialties.com, I can't find the part number right now but call them and they'll fix you up.

I used a little fasttack adhesive on the top of the gl*** - so it would stay in and upright if/when I take the interior molding/frames off.

So 57 and 58 has two style windows. One for a two door and one for a four. Mine is a four door and it is bigger then the 57,58 four door and it's different then the two door. I had the same problem with the hatch gl*** seal and found universal gasket from steel that works.

59 is a mother. Anything for the hatch has been universal and most 57 or 58 is not right.

Believe it or not. I reused some old mounted seals for my 64 wagon. If you find a parts wagon. Check on the inside to see if the window runner still soft. You carefully push the window out from the inside.
