In 88 and 98 they used stickers. I should say that the ticket you got at end of the road was a sticker that you put on your clothes or hat. A different color for each day or the week long p***.
I have my first one from 1974. It was 2 piece with a slot where you wrote your name so the could read it thru the opening.. It is light blue. I’ll photo it for tomorrow.
Well here goes. 2 photos starting in the 70’s; the first 3 have my name written faded now…then what I have in the box. Many duplicates also. The big photo: top row all 3 Muroc’s the next row are World Finals. Then by the decade…. Not going as much as I once did. 31 Speedweek and 7 World Finals. These were all events we ran our coupe or roadster.
I think I have a 1998 50th pin floating around here somewhere. Yup, on the straw hat I bought at a trading post a few miles east of Gallup NM in 1988. The two stickers = Day p***es that they handed us at End of the Road are on the side of it. We were only going to be there Saturday and Sunday in 88 and paid by the day.
To me if you were not there for the years you have they don’t mean much… I have many of the posters from the past and duplicates of a lot of them because I worked the event as well as racing. I received them after we cleaned up after everyone left. I do collect a few Bonneville memories from the past and have them on display in our pit. They put a smile on old timers faces. I have fond memories of the Restaurant in town eating with the wife and our children.
I was there in '72 and I don't remember needing one. I didn't pay to get in, tho so I may have missed the booth. Al Hook
