It is that time of year. My resolutions are simple, get my truck done this year and drive it legally. Keep doing my physical therapy exercises so I can stay able to. I think the second one is needed to be able to enjoy this hobby. I know many of you have much more interesting resolutions than mine so what are they? Go to Bonneville?, Drive Rt 66?
Hello, We have been involved in hot rodding for as long as almost forever. Our experiences have certainly been different than most of our normal “teenage” friends we met in schools. But, the hot rod group is and has always been in the minority. So, our adventures were for us and as the years go by, tried to send it on to the next generation of kid, grandkid or families. From our old elementary school days, there is still one relative that has an old Ford sedan he drives and of course, he is a “surfer.” But, that is a rarity. We have all moved on in our lives over the years, but still try to keep the flame burning. We tried the car involvement approach to our son and even years later for our granddaughter. Sometimes it seemed like it worked and questions were always asked about our early history. Our family and individual journals are going to be the “opening eye key note” for both our son and granddaughter. For this portion, 125,000 miles of history and memories tell our discoveries, adventures together and the journeys all over the place, plus family life. So, since our granddaughter just started her after family, college life and possible career, we would like to be around when she finishes college and is situated in her journey. We know how important college is to us, but it has to be accepted by those that think in similar terms. It is and will be a journey. My wife and I have made it simple for our granddaughter with our experiences with her growing up with us, monetarily, and our stories of college life. She has a photographic memory and remembers our little tea parties when she was two years old. So, college stories are all a part of family history. Jnaki We still are involved in hot rods in a sense. Our daily journeys always bring a smile when we see an old hot rod on the street or parking lots in various places we just happen to be at the time. So, it is and has been a great journey in that field. But, for us, helping out the next generation of our family is most important and we have made it simple for our granddaughter. Now, we hope to be around when she graduates and is beginning her long life ahead. Note: Hot rods in the future? Gone, but she is a forever memory bank in remembering things we have told her over the 18 years to date and hopefully after reading both of our journals we have saved, learn more about our history. That portion includes hot rods, old cars, us as a couple being together and cruising all over the place for our road trip adventures. YRMV
I agree with what you all said and want to add one more. Go to Lloydfest 2024!!!! There are a select few of us who know the secret, but the rest of you guys are missing out on a Bad *** Great Time with one of the coolest guys in our hobby!!
Just to enjoy the little things in life that come my way. Time in the garage, naps (I'm getting better at them), time with SWMBO.
My friend is a few years younger than me, and he said he finally figured out he can't save them all. So, he's letting me have his S&W dragster for $2000. If I didn't collect so much stuff, I could have a really nice collection of one thing. My New Years Resolution is to sell all of my John Deeres, except the new X738, Sell a bunch of my Pre WWI Savage 1899's, including a couple factory engraved ones. Get my 1 of 64, Formula S Convertible's into the resto shop, so I can tow the S&W to El Mirage in a couple years.
My resolution is to resolve myself not to resolve anything.....say that fast 10 times.......happy hamber here...Happy New Year to all.....

I've heard the saying "Failure is not an option", so along those lines.... I don't want to be thought of as a failure so I'm not resolving one ****ing thing! Let the New Year begin!!

Me too. 2024 is my year to get rid of junk I don’t need and get organized so I can focus on getting some things done on projects. Oh, and I should probably lose some weight or something. That trip to Australia and 3 meals a day put some pounds on…

Make the phone call I've been putting off for too long, and find out what TIG lessons cost. Buy the best helmet, and own a MILLER TIG welder of my own by this time in 2025. Sell every piece of **** I don't need, and have an open 8x12 section of concrete floor in the ba*****t and garage. Have some "pocket money" for estate sales, tag sales and the once in a while car swap meet. After 45 years the house needs rebuilding, and the pile of rocks really would look nice as a stone wall. The Roadster and Steelback projects aren't going anywhere, sure would be nice to have the doors fit in 12 months, but I wouldn't bet any money on it happening.
