    Hi all,

New member in the forums but have been lurking for a while. Wondering if anyone one from the Portland Metro area can recommend some car clubs? Would like to hang with some other like minded people.

    Thanks ,

I lived in Portland for awhile, and most of the metro guys seemed loosely affiliated with each, as opposed to a club. The most hard core group I know of is Charlie Hascall and his Tie-Rods Club in McMinnville. He's very knowledgeable and has some GREAT cars. I don't have his number anymore, but they exhibit at the Portland Roadster show every year, and guys at Steve's Restorations and Danny's Custom Interiors should know how to track him down.

I've heard of and seen the Slo-Pokes around. Thanks for the info.

Ran into a guy over the weekend at the swap meet in Canby who suggested the Checs. Anyone know if they are in Portland?

Not sure it was me that you talked with. I bought this car from a guy named Larry about a year ago. Larry is part of the road angels and seems to always be in the business of buying and selling old cars. It might have been him you talked with. However, I think that you and I have met. Did you have an old Pontiac for sale in front of your place? If I remember right it was black and red?.

Anyhow, you're real close to me, have to buy you a beer some time and check out your rides.

No Hot Rods just Kustoms. A roof is essential...

Anybody interested should check out Duff's or some of these other places...

For car stuff look here!! or get a copy of Drive @ Baxter's.

I'd be interested in what Portland has to offer as well as I'm still kinda new here.

I'm also looking for some shop space to rent so I can work on my '29 Pickup. Any suggestions?

Also, can anyone give me some tips on titleing a new frame and an old body in Oregon? I'm looking to buy one of those "historical documents" from another state. Any advise there?

    Thanks! -Erik

Erik - I think that you can apply for a salvage title and not have to work about the historical document. Surprisingly enough, the last time I contacted the DMV on a similar subject they were actually pretty helpful. Try giving them a call.

  26. Hey there! There are a ton of clubs in Portland. When I made our business plan for our shop (Royal Kustoms) i researched every active club in the NW and I found hundreds. Most of them are in the Portland area. The Slo Poks have some good stuff and the Tie Rods are awesome. The Checs are a national club, but they have a Portland chapter. A lot of the clubs are old timers, which is always great when you need some advice or want to hear a fantastic story. Just go to car shows and introduce yourself. You will find clubs everywhere. Our club is the Phantoms. (phantomscc.com) And you can find our shop on myspace- myspace.com/royal_kustoms. Good luck!

Hey Thanks for the info. I will have to check out the shop one of these days.

  29. Yeah, if you are ever in the area, let me know! We try to have a shop party every 6 months or so. It is always good to round up the friends and cause some trouble!

  30. C.D. When is the next Shop party and is it Open Door? If not how do you get an invite?
