IMG_0893.jpeg IMG_0894.jpeg IMG_0895.jpeg IMG_0896.png IMG_0893.jpeg IMG_0894.jpeg I decided to take the mercury for a drive yesterday morning, the new year brings some big stresses for me as I’m starting a business and well that’s something I’ve never done and have to quit my steady job tomorrow. Anywho, I’m cruising along and enjoying the ride. I recently made some baffles for the exhaust so it quieted down those super 40s. So I’m listening to one of my favorite genres of music bluesy cl***ic rock n roll. And lo and behold a band called FOGHAT begins to play and for whatever reason that prompted me to turn up the volume like it’s 1972 or something, idk .
That said I’m not usually a crank the music up kinda guy, and when I built the mercury a friend gave me some amps and a big subwoofer for free so I installed it and well I guess in an emotional outburst of fear and joy, I’m blasting this tune and rolling at 2500rpm then, 40 seconds into “I just want to make love to you” the front speaker blows and smoke poors out of the center speaker grill.
I know virtually nothing about car audio or really audio at all but, figured I’d share this fun little story. I suppose car audio is something like engines if you keep your foot out of it they last longer.

Now you'll be playing Boz Skaggs "Loan me a Dime".

I had flow master super 40 mufflers and turn outs at 2.25 inches so I took a 1 7/8 pipe and welded into a adapter and then welded that to 2” 45 degree pipes and then fastened it to the mufflers to quiet it down. I’m not crazy about how it sounds but I wasn’t thrilled with the sounds before either.

Being 79 with tinnitus makes a sound system easy. A stock speaker in the dash and stock 3 tunnel mufflers makes life easy. My radio has blue tooth so I can listen to Willie’s Roadhouse and Oldies but Goodies by using my phone with Sirius radio so every thing works out.
There all ready to many 400” “sound-a-likes”with 3” exhaust; I don’t to hear one in my travels all the time.

haha, basically the same except I got all this stuff free so I used it. I use my phone to sync to an amp and typically play 60s rock n roll but there are those days like the previous mentioned.
I’m 34 but have calmed down alot lol

Haha we talked about it before, I got 2 noise makers already.
