Lew picked me up today for a ride in his recently refurbished 1938 Ford coupe. Went over to show it off to Lee at LG Speed & Kustom in Victoria. One sweet running flathead engine in this car!
That's a great looking coupe! It's actually a club coupe and only about 7000 of those models were originally made! I have one in my garage and would love to get it looking half that nice. Does Lew have more pictures of it available online?
Thanks for the additional pics of the 38! Didn't mean to highjack your thread - I've been following along on it also.
Hi John! I just found and read the entire thread. That video of you in 1959 was amazing!! It made my day.
Went with Lew today in his 38 Ford coupe for lunch then off to Bo's house to see his recently finished 37 Ford sedan. That flathead engine in Lew's car sounds really nice and it's got lots of get up and go!! Bo's car is powered by a 351 Cleveland engine. View attachment 5536815 View attachment 5536816
Been a neat little surprise seeing this pop up in the LG speed and kustom you tube videos. Looking good!
i have seen this pop up as well in LG speed and kustom you tube videos. I also spotted it Deuce days. Nice to find the full back story on it gives you a real appreciation for what this car is
Hi Rob, thanks for the kind words the Chevbucket is safely tucked away for the winter. I have started a new project a 1927 Model T roadster pickup another unfinished project started by someone in Langley B.C. in 2002 I'm told. My goal is to have it on the road by springtime for under 10 grand. Hopefully it will turn out as good as the Chevbucket!! Cheers John
Picked up a good running 283 chev small block the other day and installed it in the car. I heard it running on a engine test stand before I bought it. It as an Isky cam a Eldelbrock Torker manifold using a Carter AFB carburetor. Using a Powerglide tranny which I already had. A minor modification to both engine mounts and it fit in the car perfectly.
The ace of spades is coming along nicely! Still way under my budget of $10 thousand to build this car. Of course I do everything myself other than finish welding.
The Ace of Spades hanging out with some local hot rodders tonight.Running good, steers good, brakes good! It's come a long way in 6 months. I'm into the car for $8200.00 now including the price of the car when I bought it.
