I think I missed something along Route 66 the last couple times I went, so I'm going back yet again in 2024...

Done GNRS couple times loved it.
    Ready for Goodwood. &
Really want to ride (slowly) over Isle of Mann coarse ( lots of times). Put my 220 lbs butt on a nice little 250 cc or smaller street bike so I don’t get hurt.

Make that a TZ250 Mike, now that would be some fun!
I raced 125 shifterkarts in the early eighties, those 250 karts went by me like I was parked.
Have you ever watched videos of the sidecars race at Isle of Mann?

Love the isle races, many hurt but a true road race hope it never ends. Riders choose to do it & test themselves. Hope to attend ride the route over & over get faster each time but not at race speed ( sure wish on a closed to traffic road ). Been checking hotels for this year

  13. Where do you want to explore in 2024? That is the question. My current list includes, but is not limited to, NSRA Bakersfield ( my reasons are my own) , GNRS, Bonneville, NSRA York, Detroit Autorama, and many others.

Plans can and do change but I'll be staying in familiar territory here in the upper Midwest:
GSTA Rod & Custom Show in April - have a buddy who'll be displaying there.
MSRA's 50th Anniversary Back to the Fifties weekend in June. Reunion time!
The Custom Car Revival at Indy would be one on the "wish list" but likely ain't gonna happen.
Fall Out Vintage Drags in September.
Mainly local stuff. Before we know it, another year will be history so do 'em while ya can!

  15. I don't have anything on a bucket list but I did make motel reservations for everything that I might go see. I'd like to do the Isle of Mann but I want to be able to do it at speed. :) Because of political unrest, over seas is not on my list at this time.

I'd love to. I want to.

But an hour and a half drive to Autorama in March will do it for me this year.

    Long Beach Penninsula Washington.
I worked with a guy that had a vacation place in Long Beach, they invited us up every summer for the Rod Run To The End Of The World, on the same weekend there were garage sales the whole length of the Penninsula.
    Good times!

The only far away adventures to explore that I at least currently have planned for 2024 are Detroit Autorama and Speed Week. Otherwise, I am only planning on the somewhat local events like Hot Rod Hundreds, Gathering at the Roc, StrayKat 500, etc. Oh, and Hot Rod Drag Week is at least a possibility but haven't really started planning that one much yet at all. And, you never know when I may have to make another work trip somewhere that I could also turn into another hot rod adventure.

  25. In a couple of days, I am heading to Daytona Beach in Florida, will do the museum there and will catch the local carshow- such as it is. On the way back, we want to do the Dayton Ohio aviation museum, as we have some family history on display there. I would welcome suggestion on other stops between Detroit and Daytona beach. Later in the year hope to catch the Autorama in Detroit, a couple of local shows and finally stay overnight at the Jalopy Jamup in beautiful Rockton. I would also like to gather up a bunch of my mentors, friends, aka grumpy old rodders and make a pilgrimage to the Gilmore museum in Michigan. If I hit a few of these marks it will be a good year.

I've been up Pikes Peak 4 times, 3 in a car. Would do it again tomorrow if I could. Even left my 17 year old grandson drive up last summer. I'd like to get to the Montana 500, a stock Model T race where they run 500 miles in 3 days and average 58 mph.

What's the deal here? I've always thought a stock T would hardly get to 50 MPH, let alone average 58 MPH for 500 miles.

    (Be fun to watch, tho . . . )
