Hello, I am hoping I can get some help. I bought some 1942-1948 Buick tail light ***emblies. They are the series 50-70 tail lights off a Roadmaster I believe. I just have the lenses and housings. I need the correct bulbs and lamp sockets for these ***emblies. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction? I looked on the Oldbuickparts.com site and they have about 8 different lamp sockets listed. Not sure which ones would be the correct ones for these tail lights. I posted pics of what my tail lights look like. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
^^^^^^ Dorman like mentioned Junk Yards , vehicle sitting in the field Pretty much most American vehicles 1970 and older used metal single & double filament sockets
Those are guide R-42 ***emblies used on various models from 1942-48. If looking for OEM stuff for a full restoration, try taillightking.com. If just wanting something that works, any auto parts store should have a snap in socket ***embly that will work. That is the single filament taillight, where the lower pins are straight across. Try to get the metal ones. I find those @ NAPA.
Thanks guys for all the suggestions this far. Do you guys know if both sockets in each tail light are single contact or double contact?
Pic from Here , Smaller version Called ""Black Out"" WWII military. Rare,,,, Your choice to make round lens B&T Or Running Same with Long lens B&T or Running One lens B&T or B&T &Running The other Running
That is going to depend on whether the car came with turn signals, in which your pic appears that it did. The bullet portion would have dual contact, the other single.
I put double. Filaments in both sockets wired the brights to brakes and the lowers to running lights on the rounds and the signals to the near arrow shaped. Hope that other drivers will see the brake lights better this way.
1157 should be fine in the round lens. Be careful on the long narrow lens that it doesn’t get to hot From a large bulb. I’m guessing you have plastic lens.
