Round two.... I installed a hoist a few weeks ago to handle the heavy stuff. I built a dolly for the body and removed that today. The first time around I had a much bigger shop to work in. Its going to be a tight squeeze in my shop this time around but I think I can make it work well enough and safely. This kind of work was sure a lot easier 35 years ago. Just have to be careful I don't kill my back.
wow..cool car...great project you have going on there..just take your time...warm bath in epsom salts will do you good after a stint on the coupe...
Hey all, sorry for the lack of updates. I was hoping to get farther that I did before I posted but after I ran into a fitment issue with the frame and floor I decided to take the summer and focus on fishing and other things. I had to take time to attend other things around the house and I have one more project in the basement before I head back out into the shop. Anyways, I'll post what I have done so far, certainly not as much as I wanted to. I started on fixing the goobered up firewall. I cut away the bad and fabricated some new strips. I didn't finish welding the middle part because I may decide to put in Brookville cowl vent patch - haven't decided yet.
The plan was to situate the UP floor and firewall on the frame and then place the body and adjust the floor mounts. I fabbed up some patches to replace the bottom mounts of the A pillars along with UP parts.
I removed the rotten rain gutters and mocked the new ones in place along with the body mounts. The front trunk gutter was fine but the sides were bad and of course the body mounts were cut out when it was channelled.
I had to widen the relieve in the floor to accommodate the Xmember. I ran into a major problem where the floor doesn't sit properly over the frame and mounting holes don't line up. This where I'm at now. I will get back to it in a couple of weeks as soon as I finish up an overdue project in the house.
