Bought this today....works good plus came with a fair amount of dies... No brand on it.... I was told the builder was from WI and was fabricating aircraft panels at one time.. I'm unsure if this is a one off...or if more were made and sold. Its s smaller scale unit but really a good fit for limited shop space. Hopefully someone here has seen another like ir and has more info.
With no belt guard, and no attachment points for a guard, I would say it's a very nice home built. Every piece of factory built machinery I have seen has a tag on it with serial #'s and model #'s on it.
If you want to find out the history of it, the best place to post is AllMetalShaping.com. I think you'd need to post it under "Reciprocating Machines". www.allmetalshaping.com
possibly a shop dog, built by richard kleinschmit in minneapolis, mn. I have a couple of his hammers, he built a few different designs. It does also bear a strong resemblance to early baileigh units
I found the builder...it's a one of one. He played with these hammers and moved over to another fab hobby. But before he did he developed an improved collet design for his tool holder. Neat guy...his mini prototype below...8in working depth for reference.
Boxcar's 1928, Please show us what you can do with it, when you get a chance to play with it. Do you have specific projects in mind?
No two different cars, mine is the chopped one. I painted mine Viper blue and bought the paint years before I saw Rockables car. Which is built to a much higher standard than mine.
I've done just a little with it so far.. did build an accessory for it to help maintain a predetermined offset. It worked pretty good. Believe there's more details on this vid.
