I have had pretty good luck in the past taking rattle can paint off using easy off oven cleaner. If you try it be careful cuz it will take the striping off too....

Deuce Coupes.jpg Damn. That is incredibly cool. Glad you have it well in hand. Kudos.

Imagine owning that thing in the mid 50's and then some 20 years later, in 1972 going to a movie. You stroll into the theater to see American Graffiti and on the screen your eyes are filled with a ten foot high visual of a weak approximation of YOUR yellow deuce coupe? I would have fallen out of my frigging seat. The chop, the color, the bobbed rear fenders.

OK maybe it's just a chopped yellow deuce coupe, but man, there are some similarities. The stance with the full moon wheel covers is superior to the AG car. The striping. What a badass find. Congrats.

    Now, gitter runnin'!

  7. Got the rest of the car sanded, and went to the local paint shop to pick up some paint to spray a few pieces. I was told the car was 1955 Ford Yellow…yup

So what came first, seeing the pin striping on the car or in the photo, then sanding to find it? Have the photos been with the car all along or did they turn up in the info search? Great project. Bob

  14. you could see the striping under the rattle can, and my friend John ID’d the car not long after I bought it. He had a couple photos, and the rest have trickled in over time. So I always knew the paint was under it, just needed the motivation to unearth it

are you planning on blending some of the paint in?

  22. not really except maybe the wheel wells. I need to paint the panel below the deck lid, headlight buckets and grill. It will be a fun challenge to see if I can get it a close match

  23. Man, I'd have to leave it just the way it is and drive the wheels off of it...

No shame in old patches of primer. Or even new patches of primer that will soon age and look old too.
