Hi , I have just bought a 1936 1.5 ton for truck (its heavy!) and was hoping that someone might have put later model brakes on the front axle - I want hydraulics all round so a rear axle swap is an easy job but if possible I would like to keep the front axle/suspension set up ,do F1 spindles fit or F100? .It will be cut down to a 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton size. Time to do some front end disassembly and measuring, doncha think? Get those kingpins off, measure their diameter and length, then measure the front axle bosses, the bearing thickness and the kingpin angle (7 degrees? 5 degrees?) That's how I adapted my '60 F-350 spindles and kingpins to the '29 AA axle. A little noodling, some drilling out the axles to accommodate the kingpins and maybe bending more or less "smile" into that axle to adjust the kingpin angle to the new spindles and you're there. Some reaming of the bushings for fitment will be required.
Wow, someone spent some time and good effort on that truck! Although no experience, I’ve seen the same question asked before about the front brakes, pretty sure 1/2 ton parts won’t swap to the axle. So you’d want to look for 1/2 ton axle/etc. The other thing is the fender opening are larger, and don’t have the cut out/slot like 36 PUs have for the bumper braces. @Roothawg can link you to his thread about 35/6 pickups and may have the answers anyways.

Nice truck. I wouldn’t change a thing. Ive got one of those axles. Saving for a crazy idea. But for juice brakes, what wheels? If keeping the large 5 lug, 70s dodge motorhomes used that pattern. Had tubeless wheels and front disc brakes. If you’re creative the brakes can probably be adapted. The rear end is a simple swap. I ve sold dodge RV rears, fronts and wheels to guys updating older trucks. For 5 lug, swap front suspension. Would make more sense to swap on a 1/2ton/car chassis. Car and 1/2 ton trucks shared a chassis. But then ya have another issue. there is a difference in 1/2 ton and 1.5 ton fenders. Grill? For eight lug I would google search I’ve seen early straight axles with 8 lug discs. But cutting it down to build a truck that already exists with all those mods sounds like it might be faster and cheaper to sell the large truck and buy a 1/2 ton
I’m not sure it you are wanting to keep the drum style, but the late 80’s F350’s disc spindles will almost bolt on. You have to ream the spindles. Sid Drapal at Nostalgia Sid’s Axles can tell you for sure.
I would ideally like to do that but I dont have the space- currently it runs and drives so when I want to get my Coupe out or my Harley it`s an easy jump in and drive it out the way ,I am more looking to hatch a plan to do the job but have parts available at that time.
I live in the UK - I can almost say without doubt that there is not another 35-36 truck for sale in my country! This one is 98% rust free and was affordable!
And if you go that way, I'd be interested in the original spindles, if they are what I think they are. Here's pictures of the ones I'm interested in acquiring. They look like 37-40 Ford passenger car front spindles except beefier, and 6 bolt holes for the backing plates. Keep me in mind if you make the swap-over and don't need those spindles. Thanks
