Looking for any info on this old warrior that was recently recovered from a yard near Salem, Massachusetts.
Car was supposedly raced in the late 60’s by a man named Tony Upshaw, and was called “Tony the Tiger”. It supposedly changed hands in the early 70’s and was run as “The Hummer II” by a man named Joel Kaplan from Chelsea, Massachusetts before being retired.
It has stickers on it from New England Dragway as well as Sanford Dragway in Maine. Other than it’s original black paint, it has evidence of being painted red, then purple and then orange. If anyone has any old photos or info on old owners, please let me know !

Cool 210, '67 GTO seats I believe. Del Ray door panel? The Bel Air 1/4 spears are flipped side to side, the fat part goes on the top. Dig the scoop!

How complete is it? Would be nice to see it turn a tire in anger again.

Needs to be brought back to its glory days on the track. Great find with history to go with it.

Nice New England racer. Looking forward to seeing it alive again. I do not remember it at the track but older guys will remember it, good luck

That’s a for real deal start there. I assume BBC from the headers but can’t see the flange. That ET on the window says that it was a wicked ride in its day. You gotta put it back and let it rip just one more time.

  10. Poor ol' neglected race car. Needs to be restored to a beautiful condition. And NO, don't leave the crusty rusted paint. So sick of neglect being called patina.

Thanks all for the kind words and info. Here’s a few photos of it cleaned up a bit. I did not get the short block, but I did get the original heads and induction system that it ran back in the day !

  17. Awesome! What's the rust report say? Will it need much reconstructive surgery?

Nice find gotta keep it as is and just go through it and get it running very cool.

  19. That would be a tough one to decide on whether to restore paint to as raced or just clean up as well as possible

Breaks my heart to see such a cool ol' fighter left to rot in the woods... Great to see it found & given another chance! Way to go, Bubba!!

Magnificent! What are your plans? Restoration I hope? What kind of condition is it in, it looks pretty good? What heads, tunnelram and carbs are those? When was the last time it ran? So many questions.

I also don’t like the “neglected look”. But damn, it might be hard to reproduce (for me anyways) the lettering on the car.
Actually doesn’t look too bad as it sits after cleaned up.

Anyone know why 2 of the NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY decals are on upside down?
    ( I'm guessing it broke? )
