I just acquired a 350 Chevy with a 6v-71 blower. The engine is brand new (crate engine) the blower was just recently rebuilt. I’m looking for a throttle linkage for inline Edelbrock carbs. Anyone know where I can get one? If one from a 6-71 will work?
This is what I have on my 6-71. The bracket that attaches to the blower mounting holes is where you'll need to get creative. The way it's supposed to be installed, apparently, is like this https://www.alkydigger.net/product/EN55-501.html but mine seems to work pretty well, lots of miles on it.
Yes, the linkage for a 6-71 is readily available, I have a 6v-71, its a little different blower, thats my issue.
Yes, I understand that, but don't expect there to be something made just for your strange application. You're going to have to do some fabricating, I'm showing you what to use and where you need to do the fabricating. Showing us a picture of your blower on the engine with the carbs on it, will help folks help you figure it out.
Ohhhh, ok. I got ya now. I thought you misread it and didn't see the "v". I figured i'd have to fabricate something but I was hoping that maybe someone had something of if anyone knew of a company that sells something. Unfortunately I cant post a picture of the set up, the engine is on a stand in the garage and the blower is on my dining room table after I polished it, lol.
When you get the blower sitting on the engine, let us know, we'll get back to helping you figure it out.
Like I said, the engine is on a stand, the blower is on my dining room table. What am I taking a picture of? I assumed everyone knew what a 6v-71 blower looked like. My initial reason for posting on here was to find out if anyone had a throttle linkage for a 6v-71 or if anyone knew of a place I could buy one. I didn't initially think i'd have to fabricate one.
I donot think any one make a kit for V6 series , @ least I have not seen one. If your V6 series looks like this or not , You can drill / tap that Rib that runs L to R (F to B) Take a piece of flat stock 1/8 -3/16 angle , then use bell linkage for Blowers/ Tunnel ram kits or buy individual parts, You can also use bells off rear of carb , (assuming that's what you're gonna use) Then you can run a rod from main bell to your throttle arm , or a cable , Think out side box , do a search blower pics & you will see many ways othere's have don over years , Like Front Engine dragsters ,
Yes, most everyone knows the difference, but my point was if you have the blower and carbs (in a warm kitchen) no reason not to post a photo. It doesn't even need to be mounted on an engine, don't even need to show the intake. It's the least you can do for us to help you.
you might also look at making an angled bracket that attaches to the two center studs, but having the blower sitting on the intake is kind of required to figure out how to do so.
It would help to see your intake (preferably with the blower sitting on it), to be able to figure out how to mount the lower bellcrank.
The easy way would be to link the carb's 1:1 and use a cable. The cool way would be to use bellcrank's and Heim Joint's, hand fabbed bracket's, and return spring's to make a mechanical nightmare come to fruition.
maybe / can ,if running carbs in line , Make a bracket off back bearing plate low for main 2 bell leaver / butterfly arms ,
I don't have any photos of this setup, but I took a screenshot from the video, you should be able to do this with a cable.
