Best wishes... me and ladders do not get along. Edit: A crazy ladder story. I worked a night gig in a machine shop for close to 32 years. The owner was around my age, 55 at the time. He was 6'3" and 280 lbs, not much fat on him. Hands like catcher's mitts. He had no fear of heights, I have seen him go up a 40" ladder outside like a monkey. The shop was new to him and he was wiring up some machines, maybe 20' up on the ladder, alone in the shop. He reaches too far and the ladder is going down sideways, he hangs on and closes his eyes. There is nothing around except for drill presses, benches, nothing soft. He guessed he was about 5' from the floor and he said it felt like a big hand caught him and laid him gently down onto the concrete floor. I was there hours after and he was still shaken up. I have no reason not to believe him. In his old shop, it was "haunted" by his departed dad. I had seen the apparition about 6 times within a few years.
Damn! This Sucks! Gonna be a long recovery but be patient and listen to the doctor's, and it will go quicker than you think. Thought's and Prayer's for a full and speedy recovery, we're thinking of you Brother!
Thanks for the well wishes guys. I was up on the ladder gathering swap meet stuff. I had a M2 crossmember fall off the shelf and land on my ladder. That caused the braces to bow the opposite direction, that coupled with it knocking me off balance started the dominoes. The rest is history. All I can do is lay flat out and take drugs. The moral of the story is Mustang 2 front ends will try and kill a traditional hot rodder if given the chance. Thanks again guys. Root
Good to hear from you Chris. Let me know if you need anything. If nothing else, I can trash that MII for you since it is obviously the enemy.
Good Lord I could just see it in my mind after reading about this made me cringe! My Dad had a similar experience with a shorter ladder in the garage putting up a bunch of window channels he picked up from a swap meet. Luckily he didn’t hit anything going down (how he did that I’ll never know) but landed on his shoulder and really messed it up. Bless his heart he made it back into the house and called me to take him to the hospital and had to have surgery and tons of therapy. He was 69 or 70 when he did that. After he passed from Covid I tossed that ladder in the trash after cutting it up just because when I was cleaning up the garage. But in his defense the hard headed old man was cutting the yard after he got home from a shoulder replacement surgery hopped up on pain meds Please take it easy and follow doctors orders and if there’s anything we can do for you from west Tennessee then don’t hesitate to reach out!!!
Oof, I just logged back in this morning & saw this. Very happy to hear that didn't go even worse & hoping for a speedy & good recovery.
Ouch that hurts from here !! We'll be praying for your recovery brother. Take it easy & get well soon.
What all did you break? Upper or lower vert? Get well soon man! Hopefully they gave you some good drugs! Yeah, those pesky M2 crossmembers are fighting back! That crossmember probably should be destined for here soon?
Yup, first order of business once you are well ought to be cut that Pinto IFS crossmember in half and scrap it before it hurts anyone else or ruins a traditional car.....
Broken bones suck, t10 has to hurt like hell. Lay flat, take the drugs, do the rehab when it gets to that point. Had a similar incident a few years ago so really know what you're experiencing. Prayers sent.
