bitchin, only thing I thought it needed was round flared front wheel openings to match the rear....

  3. That’s the first Corvette that I sort of like, I will build a pink car one day, but I’m weird like that.

It's interesting how the hood scoop Barris did for it resembles the later 1965 big-block hood.
Also, I love the Audrain, but I wish they would get some era correct American's on it and not the modern D-spokes!

See… I like the straight line across the front wheels, but I always thought the corner should have been more rounded to match the profile of the rear most header tube…

Oh… and in the last few years, I’ve grown to love both red and pink cars.

I’ve always thought it was interesting that the car has a different wheel/tire combo on either side. Kinda hokey, but I’m sure it was a hit with the crowds at shows. I like the slicks and mags best!

Not to be "that guy", but is it Astroid or Asteroid?

I like the front and the rear wheel openings, but not the mismatch.
Also, is that really a 63? Did they take out the split window?

apparently, he only did that on occasion for shows…

    thanks. Fixed it.

It is a 63… Barris, I guess? Trying to flex like it was a newer car? Beats me… but yeah, bummer.

removing the split was a semi popular modification back then, there were a few magazine articles that showed how to do it. some people hated the blocked rear visibility in the mirror. personally I like the one pc glass better....

When you see the colour photos it really makes the car especially the interior.

If Barris did the car when it was new, I wonder how he got a one piece rear window? Plexiglass? Or by the time he got to that stage, were the 64s out, and he could get one and the moldings from GM? Love the car, but didn’t know they made magnesium d-spokes.

I believe this car had strait spoke magnesium torque thrusts on it originally, like these in picture #2 They did make magnesium “D” spokes, though as well; as in pictures #1 5C275CEF-E92D-42A8-97A8-965D6F742A04.jpeg 60A27061-C2F4-45BC-9EA4-BC852963E520.jpeg DE0A44FA-705E-4C6E-B541-2A94BB387BD7.jpeg and#3 :

Here’s the pink I’m so infatuated with… Hard to tell in the photo, but it has some pearl in it… and it’s fantastic. Very similar to a 65 Riviera I had in “Desert Mist” only it’s a little more pink and a little less gold…

That wild color is so reminiscent of the many custom finishes of that time. I remember fondly getting excited over the flake and candy colors.
Am I the only one who heard a sharp clackey sound during acceleration?
I prefer the track torque thrust wheels. Spokes…even European spokes never excited me. Cool car!!

  21. 10 years ago or so, I came across a mention in an article that one of the inspirations car manufacturers used to pick the palette of paint color offerings for new automobiles was the latest colors of ladies' lingerie.
So...... I guess if that has been good enough for The Big Three, I don't see why it wouldn't also have worked to inspire little ol' Barris's color choice(s).

I remember seeing it on the car show circuit back then, it was a great color, and for a kid, the pipes coming out of the fenders made it totally bitchin.
The one-piece rear glass was an "improvement" back then. It was only when collectors later realized that it was a one-year-only that it became the holy grail.
My growing up neighbor had his '57 Chevy 150 painted in a Pink Champagne metallic back then. It looked great but would have been more fitting if it was customized a little instead of bone stock. And yeah, he took some guff for driving a pink car.

There's nothing wrong with a pink car ( been there done that )
Just please don't ask me to wear a pink shirt.
Like most Barris mods they are all in good taste.
As ever Thank You Ryan, for this dream vision

I’m wondering if your neighbors 57 was a stock color. My brother in the mid 60’s had a 57 that was painted that Champaign color. He later found out it is an actual Chevy color but very few 57’s had that color. I’d imagine the pink turned a lot of people off.

Jesse James once made fun of me for wearing a pink shirt. I told him to go fuck himself. :)

Jesse doesn't strike me as being particularly smart, proof is the fact that he cheated on Sandra Bullock.... Idiot....
