This may have already been covered but Pete & Jakes will be celebrating 50 years of Pete & Jakes at their annual open house Saturday May 11, 2024 at their shop in Peculiar MO. Lots of famous names planing to be there including Jake. The place to be that Saturday.
Pete & Jake's is less than 10 miles due east of me as the crow flies. Unfortunately, I have to drive the back roads and not fly on the back of a crow so there will be a jog or two on the route, but I plan to be there. A week before that, I'll be at the Lawrence Swap Meet an hour west in Jayhawk country. May looks to be a great month, with the Belton Cruise Night a week later on May 18.
Going to try and make it again this year. I have talked to Jason about it a few times at BTT50's. Its a swell crew so it has to be a great time. Right?
@winduptoy , not much in hotels in Peculiar, MO so probably want to check either Harrisonville, MO or Belton, MO, both about 15 minutes away, Harrisonville south on I-49 and Belton north on I-49.
Cars start showing up around 5 am I believe even though the show isn’t till later in the morning. The 40tg was huge with cars from California and Texas, Minnesota and beyond. I bet the 50th is a blast!
Rather than drive 4 hours Saturday morning decided I'd stay close so I booked a room at the Peculiar Hilton but after reading the reviews I'm wondering if I should bring a gun, roach spray, mouse traps or all 3. I guess with 17 years of doing hot rod trade shows I've stayed in about everything.
That's two of us.... see you there.....the worst place I ever stayed had ****roaches crawling across the ceiling dropping onto the bed. Brownsville, TX.... then there was Manitou Springs where I have no idea how the skunk got into the room...maybe that was the way to get folks to check our early...
