Honestly, they took them out yesterday. It wasn’t too bad. The good news is all of my surgeons say I don’t need any follow up surgeries. Now we just wait.
Time heals all they say, I think in the big picture you’re a lucky man to dodge a worse scenario. All the best.
We should all be enormously grateful for the medical professionals who do such tremendous work to fix us when misfortune comes our way. I'm glad your medical team has you healing up and that you've got a great attitude.
Praying for a complete and speedy recovery Chris. I used to tell all my older patients that if you're 70 years old, you have no business being on a ladder. I don't know if Chris is 70 or not but this is advice for all the other 70+ year old "teenagers" on this site. I saw too many great people get messed up on "ladder incidents" in my career. Andy
I sliced myself open standing up under a book shelf bracket while looking for the TV remote. It took us 45 minutes to stop the blood flow so I could take the ride to the ER. Showed up wearing a hat stuffed with paper towels... go right in sir... They used a product, I looked it up later on Amazon, not cheap. It was a 1-shot dispenser and like I said, it worked instantly. It was applied right over steri-strips. After 5 or so days, as it healed the glue fell off. I went in the ocean with it a couple of times.
A confessional, ladder and Mom. As a boy being led along the ways of catechism required that I’d go and tell “Father” my sins. After one of these spill my guts outings Mom and myself were making our way out of the church. Along the way there was a super tall ladder and I was going to walk under it when suddenly Mom says “don’t walk under the ladder”. Naturally I did the opposite and just like that I was directed right back to the confessional.
Not a fun experience to hear about but glad you are on the mend and hopefully back at what you love soon. Those M-2 IFS do it all the time so be careful when near them!
I am glad to see you are on the mend! You certainly have a lot friends here on the HAMB. With so many people praying for you and wishing you well you should be up and running soon!
After 60 years or so you probably won't be able to feel the bumpy line of the scar , at least I can't feel mine now !
Another day above the dirt is another good day. I'm pleased to read the positive prognosis. Your shoes would not be easy to fill.
3 Our Father's, 3 Hail Mary's and an Act of Contrition later you were on the right path... until next week... LOL!!!
With the glue, as smooth as silk. I can't see mine without taking a picture, but it really blended in well.
Roothawg, I sure hated to hear about your fall. But glad to see that you are okay now, or at least getting there. I think we all will be more careful about climbing ladders now. I hate to say it, but maybe something good comes from your mishap. I myself have never fallen from a ladder (I just trip over extension cords, not so far to fall), but my wife is always telling me not to climb them. People tell you not to do some things if no one is there to watch you. Well, back in the 80's, a friend told her very young son not to use the Large High sliding board at the playground if she wasn't with him. Well, you can guess what happened. . .she watched as he climbed the ladder to the top and watched him fall and break both arms. She was there but couldn't do anything to keep it from happening. I sure wish you a speedy recovery and along with many others I am sending Prayers your way. Ron
Dam, If anything learned is you've got a shitload of friends to get you by,, maybe with a chuckle, but what are friends for.
Yesterday I mentioned to the girls that you two were going to be on your feet and out-n-about soon. They got slightly excited when they heard that.......... V V V V V V
At 72 I try to stay clear of tall ladders but as usual I tend to ignore my own advice. Yesterday I had an avocado that was too high for me to reach with my 20 foot picker pole. But with the help of a 2' step ladder and the 20' pole I was able to get the job done. Then I saw 2 more that I couldn't reach with the short ladder. I was on the way to get the 8' step from the shop. Then I thought of this thread. I left those for the squirrels.
@Roothawg , I got silver staples in my forehead when I was 8 years old. Kinda an automotive accident, fell off the roof of an old Buick and landed on an automatic transmission! Doc put them in with no pain killer but did give me 2 suckers instead of 1 but I had to remind him that's what he said! Dad pulled them out with pliers once I had healed up! I still have them too. Get well soon! Dave
