there is a recent post about the late 47 to early 55 chevy trucks. should'nt be too far back. it's real recent. i'll see if i can bring it to the top for ya...
P.S. an S10 chassis swap is a great way to go. ask Clark, he's done several. the S10 rear is a bit narrow though. a Camaro or other unit is a better fit. look for Clark's tech on it in the Tech archives...
70's/early 80's camaro/firebird fit with very little modification. You can drop the stock axle if you want to be traditional/cheap like I did. -Rich
www.stovebolt.com has a whole gallery of these trucks. They are pretty much the same from 47-55S1. I'm doing to S10 swap with the camaro rear end. A cheap place to get axle spring perches is through your local Dodge dealer. I got the Mopar ones for $8 a pair.
may be traditional but definately not cheap. By the time I do brakes, rebuild springs, new kingpins, had the axle dropped(loudpedal did a fine job) shocks I've got about 3/4 the price of a mustangII front end in it, wouldn't have it any other way though.
no apology needed, honestly I thought I was taking the cheap way out. As the process went on I realized just how much I had invested.
